Also: there are no rules. Things dramatically changed for me when I dared admit sketching/planning actually ruins my lines AND my joy. Mistakes? Sure, but they're just new problems to solve, and the one holding the pen is the MacGyver. If stifled: find a rule/'truth' and break it deliberately

I am ok having skullguy with hoodie and dog with skullface as my main OCs because I drew them, they look like mine. Every little detail a conscious decision even in a simple and streamlined design (because it is for a comic). But if they always came out a little different? Oh shit-

Oh, right, I still like how this early (2021!) Ravina drawing turned out.
a mostly uncolored drawing of my avatar oc Ravina wearing her jacket and a pair of headphones with cat ears on them, sort of from over the shoulder as she sits in a chair at a desk, on the desk is a computer, monitor, bikini anime figure, keyboard, mouse on a boobie mouse pad, and a can of soda. Ravina is using a controller to play a sex simulator game. There is a lot of black around the edges of the drawing, and much of it aside from the monitor and Ravina is dark. The only color is a bunch of purple LED lights on the computer stuff, the headphones, and a part of Ravina's jacket.

Behind Goofy is a giant hole with a turbine inside, around the hole is the label "Slop Blender". Goofy, scared, says "N-now Mick, wait--it doesn't have to be like this!!" "placeholder text" "concept art" either the temporary thing you put in matters to the process, in which case you need to get a human to work on it, or it doesn't, in which case you can just as easily put a bright pink rectangle that says PLACEHOLDER in and save everyone time and effort
