We saw this hostility to the climate in #Kent recently when the Tories joined with Reform to undeclare a climate emergency that they had previously recognised. 🤷

Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

We will miss him terribly.

And Labour have finally responded to Reform’s repugnant ILR proposals by … endorsing them?

Most benefit claimants by people with ILR are EU nationals, whose settled status is protected under the European Union Withdrawal Agreement. It is unclear how Reform's plan to banning all but UK citizens accessing benefist would avoid breaking that deal.
The government spokesperson added: "People here illegally rightly do not get anything from our benefits system.
"Foreign nationals usually have to wait five years to claim Universal Credit and we're looking at increasing this to 10 years.
"We inherited a broken welfare system and spiralling benefits bill. That's why we're taking action and reforming the system and have seen the proportion of Universal Credit payments to foreign nationals fall since last July."
