Tbh I feel like this is another expression of this utter malicious want for people to die. "If they‘re not going to die, we‘ll just destroy them in every other way." Wrapped in neoliberal zero-sum games to try and justify it in the ideological mainstream landscape.

Considering how the markets look like when debt collectors sell off people‘s things for way below market price (and then most of the money ends up in "process fees" covering no debt) this‘ll be liquid flaming inhumanity.

Here's an example from @nature.com @theluddite.bsky.social theluddite.org/post/replika...

Should this be declared?

> Bethanie Maples, the lead author of this study, is also the CEO of an AI education company called Atypical AI, though the paper's ethics declaration fails to mention [this.]

So we are going to bring forth a world where anyone who wants to be a lone wolf is welcome to walk into the woods without a single damn thing a global community made for him, and perish howling at the moon.

The rest of us will live in a society.

We are a social species, and we have always prevailed through cooperation. Caring for our sick. Raising children we didn't sire or birth because they were part of our village or extended family. We are not breeders and predators, we are communicators and survivors. We evolved to UNITE.

The modern conservative panic is fueled by juvenile tantrums, of people clinging to hierarchies until their fingernails are bloody because they're too contemptuous towards undesirables and offal acquiring even a shred of humanity and dignity.

But it's inevitable, and the clock will not turn back.

Musk is a parasite on the future; he preys upon the imagination of others, taking any vision of a better world and depreciating it by hawking options on a transparently fake facsimile.

He is capitalism's full-throated assault on the utopian imaginary.

This reminds me of my take w.r.t. Microsoft Recall that "we OCR your screen to capture context" is only a selling proposition because most services and desktop software can‘t make the visual interface too shitty, but are otherwise walled-off silos with no conviction to support data integration.

I also want updated hvac in all public places. We really dropped the ball on that one.

Masking would be less important if we hadn't.

"We have more tools now"

Theoretically. We're not using them.

I wear a mask simply because I'm following the data on repeat infections and trying to limit those. I've also known too many people with long or medium covid to want to fuck around. Even if I knew I was going to recover fully why would i volunteer to lose months to this illness?

At some point, "The world is a huge psychiatric hospital" would make an incredible title for this woman's memoir
