I take more than my share of shots at Quinn Emanuel but they have done great and difficult work, at substantial risk to the firm, for Abrego Garcia. Sincere thanks and respect.

This!
Since I haven’t seen anyone mention this: When the U.S. commits war crimes it puts our troops in danger also, as it gives a green light to other countries that they can do the same to us

If anything puts the lie to “we’re going after the criminals,” this shocking video should be it. Kudos to the @nytimes.com on a tremendously well done look into the immigrants here on legal visas whom we’re detaining. An absolute must watch: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/17/o...

Exactly. Let the Rs own it completely. If that means they blow up the filibuster, so be it. Ds should not participate in or facilitate this govt.
I mean if the dems went into this thinking ACA subsidies were gettable (they weren't) then it was only a matter on time before they gave up. they should have gone into this saying (to themselves and to the world): we won't vote to open a government like this one, the GOP is on their own.

Many of this are left cold by this. I sure am. But this - the kind of performative Andrew Tate cartoon-masculinity, the clumsy swagger, the maundering braggadocio, the needy desperate I‘M A MANLY MAN I’M A MANLY MAN, speaks to a howling void of inadequacy in some people’s souls.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

America has completely lost its way. This is pointless cruelty.
As we near July 4, take a moment to re-read the 8th Amendment, which bars cruel and unusual punishment.
Then read the harrowing court filing from Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Our country has lost its way.

Medicaid expansion applies to any member of a household with income up to 138% of the federal poverty line (PL). For a household of 4, the 2025 PL income for 48 states is $32,150. At 138%, it's $44,367. So, his argument is that a household of 4 with an income between $32,150-$44,367 has too much? /1

138% of the federal poverty level (the cutoff for ACA Medicaid expansion) is an annual income $21,597 for an individual. I challenge Markwayne Mullin to live on that (let alone less than that) and try to access health care in America.

Trump’s attempts to dehumanize large segments of the American people in order to use military force against them fits the classic definition of “tyranny,” and right wing rhetoric using the phrase “third world” to justify it is no accident (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

She is right. The Trump admin is literally doing this. They terminated humanitarian parole for hundreds of thousands of people who came here LEGALLY through a government program, and they are calling all those people "illegal aliens."
AOC: When they say illegal vs legal immigration—they are trying to end legal status in the US making people undocumented and then they have the audacity to call them illegal when they were here documented.

Exactly. You don’t find criminals at Home Depot, harvesting crops, building homes, or busing tables. This is just mass roundup and deportation of non-whites.
You can't do a "mass deportation of criminals" there aren't that many. And doing "mass deportation" means you're redirecting resources that WOULD be used to catch people who have committed crimes to deport families and workers. bsky.app/profile/mtsw...
"why isn't ICE focusing on criminals?!"

Having ICE focus on criminals for deportation was already the policy of the Biden Administration. That's the thing that was happening that Trump decried as "open borders." Trump promised to change that to "mass deportation now" and deport indiscriminately

💯
kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes
