When I arrived in the US, I was astonished to learn how much of the vaunted Free Press was controlled by right wing interests.

It’s getting worse, & I don’t know a way out of it. Politicians keep telling us to take tiny, individual actions where we really need laws, regulations & work from THEM.

Well, NYC is expensive, lol. But like bringing in work from many designers, paying the curator, doing the actual exhibition design, it adds up!

Plus getting buy-in from all the senior leadership that a TTRPG exhibition is worth it and all!

But for people excited about a *literal* profit machine, note that the real net fiscal cost was almost €72M. It made €146M due to the estimated value of gains in mental wellbeing.

Today I played @sunderfolk.com with my @fordham.edu Intro to Videogame Design class, to great success!

Dividing them into groups of 4 with 1 device each worked well. We talked about digital/analog affordances, the role of UI/graphics, stories in games AND had a nice break before midterm projects!

I was told not to teach a class on the intellectual histories of Zionism and Anti-Zionism next year - not because they doubted I could teach it fairly, but because it would attract too many politicians scrutinizing the syllabus.

A society where that is a valid fear is no longer fully democratic.
