The American story as it actually has unfolded - a nation slowly, imperfectly realizing its founding ideals - is only divisive to people who are racists. ICYMI @tlecaque.bsky.social: www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-smit...
Trump Demands the Smithsonian Deliver Shiny, Happy History
His fascistic insistence that it eliminate “divisive or partisan narratives” reveals what he doesn’t understand about history and about America.

I'm tellin ya. You may think I'm crazy for worrying about Trump stripping people of citizenship - and I hope I'm wrong - but there's a lot of things we couldn't imagine happening in the United States until they did.
"Reich citizenship will not be laid in the cradle of every one born in Germany, but will be ceremoniously conferred on him after he has shown himself worthy of it through special accomplishments, through loyal services to the State." NY Times, July 6, 1933.

The GOP just passed a bill most of them vehemently disagree with — and that they know is going to harm their constituents — because they’re afraid of Trump.

Pretty pathetic stuff.

An addled president is shredding the Constitution to usher in white nationalism and fascism while destroying the economy and our health care, so if you’re going to write an alarmist op-ed because a mayoral candidate might open five (5) city-run grocery stores, you can kindly get bent.

When not even THAT guy can buy his freedom to publicly criticize #POTUS and his POS Bill, we should recognize the fascism in the room.
How bad is Trump’s Big Abominable Bill?

When the richest man alive, Elon Musk, criticized it, Trump’s allies threatened to have him deported from the United States.

*That’s* how bad they *know* the bill is. *That’s* how much it’s pork-laden fare for rich American elites *only*.

Don't forget: Stephen Miller makes money off deportation.
Stephen Miller says “unchecked migration” got Mamdani the win. Adds that migration has ruined a once-great NYC, which is an interesting read on NYC’s history.

What in the name of all that is holy is going on with #SCOTUS
#SCOTUS in unsigned, unexplained order allows Trump admin to deport individuals not to countries where they come from, but to any place in the world that will take them w/o notice or an option to be heard. www.npr.org/2025/06/23/g...
U.S. Supreme Court allows -- for now -- third-country deportations
A federal judge had previously said people must get at least 15 days to challenge their deportations to countries they're not originally from.

This is beyond cruel, especially for young folks who are going through it. Cutting off LGBTQ+ youth from specialized suicide prevention help is a death sentence disguised as bureaucracy.

Shame on every official who signed off on this. You’re not protecting children, you’re abandoning them.

This is a real headline.

Are we even a country anymore? It feels like we're descending into a pit of nihilism and cruelty.

While after this last weekend I have much more hope that there will be pushback against this—and significant pushback—the threat to our way of life is profound and terrifying.

I'm shocked, I tell you.
Another reason to oppose Schedule F (now Schedule Policy/Career) is that we know it will be used ideologically rather than for the stated purpose of performance. @adambonica.bsky.social shows that 90% of recent DOGE layoffs have targeted people working in agencies that serve more liberal goals.

The first person arrested by the Marines is an Army veteran who was on his way to work at the Veterans Administration. It appears he was arrested for crossing a yellow line which the Marines did not realize was not designed to exclude federal employees from reporting to work.
