It’s my 38th Christmas and I just realised “ho ho ho” isn’t just Santa’s quirky catchphrase; it’s the sound of him laughing

I find it bizarre how almost all animal characters in children's books still use he/him pronouns

Especially as human representation in kids' books is so diverse! Male is still the default when it comes to animals (& I've also observed this when other adults talk about the kids' animal toys to them)

Favourite name of the moment: Seel(e)y

A character in the book I’m currently reading (“Hot Dog Girl” by Jennifer Dugan) and an album I’m enjoying (“GpYr” by Josh Joplin Group)

Possibly from the Middle English word meaning “happy” (same origin as “silly”)

Nice sound, meaning, and gender neutral!

Disability is not a 'brave struggle' or 'courage in the face of adversity.' Disability is an art. It's an ingenious way to live.

Disability is a portal, a way of focusing our gaze and sharpening our lens on the intricacies of our humanity.

On my way to yet another picket line as this week’s round of strikes starts again. Management are still refusing to reopen negotiations with the unions. #ICLstrike

I can’t believe I forgot to tell you when I was updating you about my recent life news that I got an air fryer!

It has been as good as everyone says it is. Highly recommend particularly if you love beige food.

Graduated Couch to 5K this morning!

The programme gets you running for 30 mins rather than 5K, so for me it’s been “Couch to 3.5K” as that’s how far I actually get in 30 minutes…

Next goal: actually 5K!

Finally returned these forms two weeks ago and they're sending them back to me because I did not fill them out completely enough

Usually I love a form but I could not answer questions such as on a scale from 0-5 how did my difficulties affect me at school. That is a TEXT BASED ANSWER question
Spoke to my GP about getting an ADHD assessment and they have given me forms to fill out and take back which has gotta be part of the test right

I'm back after the Bsky app logged me out and it took me a few months to get around to resetting my password! What's new in my world?

The 12th annual international Gender Census 2025 is now open until at least 30th August 2025!

survey.gendercensus.com

It's for anyone whose gender (or lack thereof) isn't described by the M/F binary. It's short and easy, and results are useful in academia, business and self-advocacy.

I started cooking a few years ago. I quite enjoy it but I’m a) very meticulous so it takes ages, and b) hypermobile so my body always aches after a couple of hours of standing while cooking

It just occurred to me to buy a folding barstool so I can sit down while cooking! Absolute game changer!
