One of the things that got me into research was NIH's summer internship programs. They were critical for my development as a scientist. And helped me firm my desire to pursue bioinformatics as a field of study. This is destroying opportunities for younger folks to get into STEM.
NIDA has announced it, but all the NIH summer internship programs are likely cancelled.
