I'm just glad that Pulitzer Prize winner Ed Yong caught the last chopper out of The Atlantic because what the hell is this
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

I was talking to a friend the other day about her Thanksgiving plans! They do the "standard" fare but she's Thai so she also does Massaman curry 👀
What are your non-standard Thanksgiving fare?

Moments ago: tenants of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided at the end of September held a presser to announce they're forming a tenants union.

They're demanding, among other things, sewage removal and heat and electricity restroration.

More updates TK.

Every game designer parent I know bans Roblox for their kids

Oh, God, this is one of those "where do I even start" things, because Roblox is, like, *fractally* fucked. They are terrible at content moderation. A lot of the games are rated incorrectly, so kids can encounter graphic content (sex or violence) out of nowhere --

Saying "vaccines are safe" is an irrelevant detail when you voted to hand all of the US government's health organizations over to someone who adamantly insists they are not.
TAPPER: Dr Cassidy, RFK Jr lied to you

CASSIDY: First let me say what's most important -- vaccines are safe.

Gatekeeping by demanding expensive technology or approaches is the ancient tactic of the rich laboratory.
My favorite from an @hhmi.org scientist: “the great thing about optogenetics is it keeps the riff raff out of the field.”
Heard an established successful neuroscientist dismissing junior scientists as "people at the bottom" 🤦‍♀️

You folks with lots of research funds & power: young scientists more than ever need our respect and support even if you don't agree with their ideas and approaches

People always ask me, “how do I know my manuscript is done?”

There’s only one way, my friends.

If your file name looks something like this:

Manuscript - Final Draft 3.7 FINAL FINAL - FINAL (5).docx

Then, and only then, is it time.

We’re going to look with a fresh pair of eyes at city government — and what powers we have to deliver for New Yorkers.

And that’s one of many reasons I’m excited to have Lina as one of our transition’s Co-chairs.

we have PrEP because of these monkey studies. animal welfare in medical research is extremely strictly limited and regulated to ensure ethical use. there is no replacement for these animal models in biomedical research.
EXCLUSIVE: CDC to end all monkey studies. Decision handed down by recent college grad and former DOGE employee who is now deputy chief of staff at the agency. Animals were being used in studies of HIV prevention. Some may be euthanized. My latest for @science.org

Studies related to HIV and other infectious diseases will be phased out, sources say; fate of the agency's animals remains unclear
