I get paid for engineering so I can lose money doing photography. Opinions probably aren't my own but I couldn't tell you precisely where I got them from. Grateful to hug my wife and kids every day.

Developer attempts to replicate "Liquid Glass" in CSS, and once finished realizes what she'd actually created is an exploit for a fundamental, previously unknown, and rather serious browser vulnerability

Prison rape is wrong.

Jokes about prison rape are wrong.

Eliminating protections against prison rape is wrong.

If another country sentenced a criminal to be raped, we'd consider it a crime against humanity.

BUT

A large segment of Americans regard prison rape as a de facto part of the sentence.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

The elevation of that chair for the pipe organ at Benaroya Hall in Seattle is kinda bonkers. It looks like you have to come out THROUGH the organ to access it.

Additional TL;DR: power is isolating

I think it gets harder and harder to step outside of your bubble which is one of many, many reasons why term limits aren't just good, they're necessary.

Spending too much time with power corrupts and isolation is just part of that process.
tl;dr: if TikTok is being manipulated at all, it's largely insignificant. Most of the phenomena being observed are much more easily attributable to organic opposition of US interest than pro-China influence. It's just that people who've never stepped outside their bubble can't tell the difference.

Exactly. There was that awkward moment during Bush 2.0's admin when they asked consumers to spend more money to improve shareholder value but that was at a time when people were able to put money into savings for once. That's not the case now.
Gen Z is spending more on essentials than previous generations, yet their wages aren't keeping up.

It's no wonder they aren't "spending like retailers need them to."

When 70% of the economy depends on consumer spending, people need money to spend. It's as simple as that.

Makes me wonder if banning social media and any app with addiction mechanics (infinite scroll, gambling, etc) isn't now a moral imperative rather than a silly corner case for censorship. Human physiology and cognition cannot keep up with technology exploiting them to sell ads and influence.
When I ask them: "What are you reading? What are you watching? What are you listening to?" Often, the answer is: nothing. Which has a direct effect on their over-use of prompts and AI, because they can't think of ideas, because they are literally not engaging with a single figurative thing.

ZOOTOPIA 2 is undeniably the best Disney Animation sequel to date. Bigger, sharper, and so darn funny. Nick and Judy got that 'Mulder and Scully' level of hot tension going on and I hate how I need them to kiss. Disney got me going feral on main now.

It's like they want to kill recruitment. Recalling a retired officer to exact petty revenge over politics will convince everyone seeing it happen with half a brain never to risk that happening to them.

Combine this with the rules changes about how you have to look and we're talking real atrophy.
I'm wondering if Kegseth is hell-bent on going after Mark Kelly because he outranked him. Small men do that kind of thing.

They're language models who do not UNDERSTAND language and the people writing in safeguards have to wrestle with the fact that the model is an idiot who can't extrapolate meaning from partial data. The more I experience a world with LLMs, the more I want them destroyed forever.
Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..."

"This two-point font says you should never use this for xyz".
Its near "super intelligence" "replacing professionals" in the PR rounds, then once everyone is convinced and uses them for legal and medical advice, following the deceptive marketing, they slip it in the terms of service that you shouldn't do that.
