Weird how they put all their efforts into using technology to replace human creativity and art and then say creative arts degrees are useless.

I just got a new chainmail hauberk for my Ren Faire/D&D costume 🙌

They built an industry with the premise is that art, literature and human creativity was worthless and they about to lose tens of billions finding out they were idiots.

This is great. The absurdity of this moment captured. Make it go viral.

we showed the brutality of the anti-Black (and anti-ally) violence by police in 2020 (and before) yet we still got Trump for a second term and police violence has only worsened.

We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire

You cant talk talk about how other countries have better school systems without talking about the inequality and racism our school systems and the neighborhoods that fund them were built with.

Conversations about the school system and education that pretend that socioeconomic class and poverty has no meaningful impact on educational outcomes annoy me.

I learned how to read well because I was doing it all the time. A Goosebumps book and an encyclopedia volume hated to see me coming. I dont even know how you develop proper reading skills if you only read books at school.

Gotta be able and willing to read it to know that though.

Yes, kids must read outside of school. Educators know this, sometimes tell parents/caregivers, who sometimes have the resources/interest/time to promote home reading. Estimates of kids' reading (aka print/text exposure) predict reading skill big time. One example from the research lit: rdcu.be/eJTI3
Effects of individual differences in text exposure on sentence comprehension
Scientific Reports - Effects of individual differences in text exposure on sentence comprehension

I'm skeptical that it would be corporations leading it (they never led the development of new, large-scale expensive risky things to date) but we'll see.

To be clear is not that you cant cool them using these methods its that you cant remove heat fast enough to prevent them from burning up. Its the rate of heat transfer that's the issue.

Perfect example of playing with intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to coax someone into doing something. Well done!

This combined with playing text-heavy JRPGs did so much for me. Going through Legend of Legaia and Wild Arms on PSX straight up forced a stronger vocabulary.

Plus, if you were skipping over text or not paying attention, you’d get legitimately stuck in those titles.

This paper is saying what I pointed out. They arent using convection to cool their heat loads with the exception of AC inside the station for comfort which are effectively just circulation fans. None of the means they are using are suitable for cooling a mass of computers.
