built to last, ez to crack open and mod, games had charm, don't have to burn money to play online (thank god for revival services), old = more extensively researched = more homebrew software

The idea of a DVD being "a copy of your favorite movie/TV show that YOU own forever" probably sounds like the ultimate cheat code to the generation who has only know the streaming ecosystem and, as such, more aware of its shortcomings.
