Here he is. My precious Showercat. I miss him so much.

The Portland Frog is a brilliant bit of mocking agitprop. It makes the regime look silly and stupid at the same time.

They would have to bring the House into session for this measure. Release the Epstein files!

Article is paywalled so I don’t know what FT says, but the answer is easy. There’s no group called “antifa”. Facism is an ideology; antifa is its opposite.

Point au Roche. It is neither pronounced how it looks nor is it pronounced like the French words it contains.

She’s not well, sadly. She really needs to retire.

I got my foot stomped by a horse who was shaking off a fly on its withers when I was a teenager. I was wearing heavy boots and it wasn’t trying to hurt me so I got away with just an incredibly painful bruise but I had trouble walking for a couple of days.

The so-called “wine moms” were right.
maxim-dorky.bsky.social
Also, sorry, anyone who uses "wine mom" as a pejorative catches an instablock from me.
maxim-dorky.bsky.social
Anyway, "liberals are my bitch mom telling me to clean my room and do my homework, leftists are my cool dad promising he'll take me to the ball game and the amusement park" remains a pretty reliable lens to view politics through.

I notice that this is Harper Collins UK. UK libel laws are notoriously pro plaintiff—defense requires that the allegedly libelous statement be *proven* to be true. This is not an unusual outcome of a libel suit (or a threat of a libel suit) in the UK. Have any charges been made to the U.S. edition?

I had forgotten that Trump caved last time when it appeared that civil aviation was about to collapse. It’s probably the wider public’s most visible interface with the federal government. The system is delicate and overtaxed in normal conditions.

“The air traffic system, in general, is stressed to the max,” a veteran air traffic controller working at a major East Coast airport told Forbes on Tuesday, adding “sick outs will continue to happen because the [controllers] aren’t fit for duty.”

Overstressed, Unpaid Air Traffic Controllers ‘Aren’t Fit For Duty,’ Says Agency Veteran
Cracks in the air travel system are widening, as air traffic controllers bear the strain of an understaffed system and no pay until the government shutdown ends.

Also the only thing to put on a classic straight up grilled cheese sandwich, properly made with soft sandwich bread. (Gruyere is awesome on grilled ham and cheese though)

I know this is crazy, but announcing that undercover officers are going to infiltrate “terror cells”, might not be an effective way to infiltrate terror cells—raising suspicions and putting agents in danger. Or this is entirely performative and no officers are at risk because there’s no operation.

Obviously not the main point here, but it's interesting how this is framed as content rather than policy.

"BREAKING" is typically what journalists or influencers say when they have a big story -- not what government officials say when they launch "undercover" operations

She doesn’t even refuse to comment on it. She just tries to do a shouty change of subject.

I also put straight MSG in things as a flavor boost. It works really well; it’s the reason why you (I) can eat an entire bag of Doritos in one sitting. That yellow cheese dust is like 90 percent MSG.

You can get the silkiness of velveeta from other cheeses using sodium citrate, a food additive available online. It makes any cheese sauce amazing AND it will reheat without separating. “All natural, no added ingredients” can go suck it. I’ll be over here eating the best broccoli cheddar soup EVAH.

This is the second time that I’m aware of that Trump has recently expressed concern about going to the Good Place. These are the words of someone contemplating their own mortality. Since Trump isn’t known to do a whole lot of contemplating, it does make you wonder what’s motivating that. 🤔

Trump: "I want to be good because you want to prove to God so you go to that next step, right? So that's very important to me."

“Maybe it did, and maybe it didn’t,” said Frog.

the right accuses us of "Trump Derangement Syndrome" but the thing is that perceiving the Trump administration is like gazing into Yog-Sothoth's eldritch form. The only way not to be deranged by it is to actively refuse to perceive it, which is the right's preferred approach to anything inconvenient

There is a Mishima quote I like using -- "the special quality of hell is to see everything clearly down to the last detail." It seems to be the only way of really conveying the psychic damage of perceiving the administration and the forces behind it

You, doomer: if Trump is putting himself on money it means the law against putting living people on coins is broken

Me, hope-pilled: what if, by the time the coins are minted, him being on them no longer violates the law
