ANY member of Congress who would opt to follow ICE's "rule" instead of following the law isn't worthy of serving in Congress.
“The Department of Homeland Security has formally instituted a new requirement that members of Congress and their staff provide a week of notice before they visit immigration detention facilities, a policy that is at odds with a federal law that allows lawmakers to make unannounced oversight trips.“

I AM a lefty—and also nonwhite.

I know we must be pragmatic enough to understand the material consequences of elections.

I vote for Democrats because I would rather fight them than fight Republicans. We can gain rights under Dems; we fight for status quo or lose rights under the GOP.

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!
