The tragic thing about seeing Reform take control of councils is that the thing their supporters want to see won’t happen. Starmer will still be PM, the small boats will still be a thing.

But now they have a council that hold disabled people with contempt so congratulations I guess.

Reform are doing very well, you can’t deny it but it is worth remembering that they are still losing or only narrowly winning to one of the most unpopular governments in recent memory.

The resistance is real.

Once again we are having a debate about the worth of disabled people working. While it’s nice to see so many people on our side, I must say I’m frustrated. People will happily post about supporting disabled people but won’t take steps to actually help us get into work.

Hire us, it’s quite simple.

So when my cat screams when he is hungry that is fine but if I scream when I’m hungry I’m “Making a scene and need to leave the restaurant immediately”. Talk about unfair.

It will be interesting to see how far reform can go. Have they hit the ceiling?

It’s worth pointing out that there is a difference between thinking we would be better off with a strong leader who doesn’t bother with elections and actually supporting such a thing.

I’m becoming increasingly convinced that Farage’s success is down to parts of the media’s refusal to counter his rubbish or put someone up against him who is willing to call him out. Put me on question time and I’d call him out like the charlatan he is. That would never happen of course, I’m nobody.

Read this and learn.
Since announcing my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer a few weeks ago I’ve become increasingly aware of how misunderstood the condition is.

So I want to debunk a few misconceptions:

It’s ridiculous to suggest that a man who filled his website with Holocaust deniers, agreed with an antisemitic conspiracy theory, & helped elect another man who hosted a Holocaust denier for dinner & just pardoned a guy in a Camp Auschwitz T-shirt was doing a Nazi salute.

And this point it’s completely fine to say that the United States is no longer a democracy but an oligarchy. No longer serving the people but wealthy few who have only one goal, to keep their power at all costs.

I’ve seen many of his supporters defend him by saying it’s to do with his Asperger’s diagnosis. I also have an Asperger’s diagnosis and have never accidentally did a Nazi salute

Once again, we see a multi-millionaire showing utter contempt for working people. Even worse, it shows a complete lack of awareness of people who need to work from home: disabled people, single parents, carers, people living in rural communities, and so on.

What actually bothers me the most is the press seem happy to hype up reform but nobody is challenging the policies. Reform want to get rid of the equality act and the human rights act. So what does that mean for my right as a gay man? Are they about to be taken away in 4 years time?

Think I have my political philosophy hat on today. Just keep thinking about what a liberal democracy is morally able to do to defend itself from internal threats.
