Been working a Doctor Who convention this weekend. Been a ton of fun, got to meet some great people and get photos with some of the actors of both classic and new Who. The 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)was the icing on the cake. @ChicagoTardis

It's sad to see people losing touch with the true meaning of holidays in today's modern, hectic world. Black Friday used to be about the trampling.

On this Thanksgiving know that I am thankful for all of you. Without the infosec community I would not know as much and know I do not know even more.
You inspire me to be better. Nay those who celebrate have a moist Turkey and good food/company today and into the future.

Did the majority of the OC Fusion side today for the first time in over a year and a half. Only subbed out #1 and #4 to GPT and alternated on #7. Also had my first bloody rip ever but did not let that stop me. Felt good to do obstacles again.

I just want to note that if you're removing the *CIA Mission Center* (presuming this is DIROPS/DO) lawyer because they won't sign off on your strike, you're almost certainly doing something seriously unlawful.

Those folks excel at obscure legal justifications in the "lawful but awful" category.
On the patently unlawful boat strikes

It's hard for USGs to claim ‘mistake of law’ or ‘advice of counsel’ – when they’re firing lawyers who wouldn't sign off on the strikes.

WaPo's new revelations on firings or removals:

1) CIA General Counsel
2) NSC Legal Adviser
3) CIA Mission Center’s lawyer
🧵
White House blew past legal concerns in deadly strikes on drug boats
The Trump administration sidestepped skeptical lawyers across national security agencies as it pursued a military campaign against alleged narcotraffickers, officials say.

NVIDIA earnings were a mirage. The market figured it out surprisingly fast. NVIDIA bump evaporated.

I don’t know how this information can enter the system without exploding the bubble.

But sometimes bezzles visible for months before crash.

This new study demonstrates that using LLMs to learn about a new topic produces less retention/understanding than traditional web search, and that learners spend less effort in giving advice based on their research when using LLMs.

Read this thread. It's spot on.
This shit about agentic AI executing a cyber attack with "thousands of requests, often multiple per second—an attack speed that would have been, for human hackers, simply impossible to match" coming out of Anthropic is such marketing bullshit.

Tom is probably right, we should probably just focus on authoritarianism or illiberalism.

Also, the audience is too dumb, they don't know anything more about "fascism" other than it's an insult.

But for the educated, there are important parallels.
Why do people ask me this as if "a form of authoritarianism that isn't fascism" is impossible?

*Most* forms of authoritarianism are not fascism; fascism is, and was, a tiny number of states in the universe of repressive regimes.
So itsa “road map” to a form of authoritarianism…that’s not fascism?

Execs are treating AI as the new "Blinky Box that fixes everything"
This is why we are screwed.
Ai is a tool, but needs humans to truly make it effective. Once that lesson is learned maybe we can progress forward on things again. Until then, welcome to the bubble that is/about to burst.
