Hey there Bluesky.

I’d like to pretend like this is a fresh start for me, but it is definitely not.

I’m still fucking insufferable.

This myth also informs the current choice from modern conservatives to draw a hard line around antisemitism while not feeling the need to disavow racism.
It’s funny because the federal government is very literally being run right now by Christian Nationalists who have openly stated they support modesty laws and religious policing but that’s apparently not the same problem.

Also, I’ve had both camel and goat and they are both superior to hot dogs.
“The Third Way” is just good old fashioned losing, apparently.
Has New York Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs resigned over Mamdani yet? I hope he hasn't, so that he can instead resign over *improving Republican margins over Trump 2024 in an anti-Republican wave election*. Trump won Nassau by just 4%—now look at this bloodbath

For the remarkable number of folks in excellent law firms, corporate suites, non-legal academia who still aren't really sure "where we are" country-wise, I'm just not sure how much clearer he can be. Countries in which opponents of the government can "never obtain power" are not democracies.
Trump: "They're gonna make DC a state and they're gonna make Puerto Rico a state. So now they pick up two states, four senators. They're gonna pick up electoral votes. It's gonna be a very, very bad situation. Now, if we do what I'm saying, they'll most likely never obtain power."
Perfect example of how Trump lies. So simple. This is a walmart sale promotion he’s talking about, it’s not the actual cost of thanksgiving dinner. It also went down 5% last year, and a 30-40% increase has never happened.
Trump on the cost of a Thanksgiving meal at Walmart: "I don't know if they care about that in Saudi Arabia, but here it means a lot. We got the princess here from Saudi Arabia. She's got a lot of cash."
Feel like if they keep calling charismatic New Deal model Democratic socialists pushing broadly popular policies “commie marxist radicals” they’re going to find people, particularly young people, are going to start thinking commie marxist radicals are pretty cool.
Emmer: "There is no problem too large for government to solve and no concern too small for it to care about. That is a direct quote from Commie Mamdani! And it should terrify every single freedom-loving American."
Emmer: "Pro-terrorist, Marxist radicals are now the left's mainstream."
Especially not when Trump handed them the “I’m gonna starve America if you don’t give me what I want” line on the same day they rolled elections across the country.

“No, please, keep punching yourself in the dick. We’ll wait…” sold be the negotiating strategy.

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

A pro-affordability, anti-Trump-corruption message unites the party. Every candidate can run on that, and every candidate can have their own take to fit that to their constituents. There's really no need to find fights to pick when the party agrees on more than it disagrees
Came here to say this, but Jamelle Bouie has this covered. 👇
When the Democratic tent includes candidates like Spanberger and Mamdani, there is no crisis, or fight, for the party. IT’S A COALITION, NOT A POINT ESTIMATE.

All politics is local. You study propaganda, you know the right has built massive propaganda machine(s). and you should know one the main purpose of that machine is to nutpick every single Policy and word said by the left and convince everybody the nut represents the whole

And they have, apparently
never said you didn’t. It was bad policy. bad policy was tried, and killed by Dems.

Republicans in Utah here are trying to ban healthcare, flags and books because they think Jesus said so.

But you’re here agreeing with Matty’s point that Dems should stop being the party of something they aren’t.
lol. or maybe your problem is you’re trying to focus on everything and you’re actually missing the important things.
Counterpoint: The Republican party is literally the party of the Christo Fascist Project 2025. They have elected fascists and racists openly saying fascist and racist shit to reporters daily.

But Republicans are still not radicals? This is the retcon that concerns you?
Counterpoint: this bullshit policy was touted as something that should be rolled out nationwide, as a fking paragon of progressive policy. It showed up in “detracking” decks in districts across the country.

While parents in SF literally filed FOIAs bc the district lied ab impact. No retcons tks.
I don't think it helps the debate about what Democrats should do to pick an obscure thing that some Democrat somewhere may have said -- like on teaching eighth grade algebra -- and then attribute it to Democrats generally.
Once you see it you can’t unsee it, but there’s precious few Americans with the will and/capacity to put in the work required to know for themselves.

Which means the only real solution to the problem is fighting the propaganda machine directly, with your own.
Matty is not alone in this delusion, or even in the minority

Right wing media has convinced the majority of Americans that Republicans are still basically a main stream party as they do Project 2025 and Dems are out of touch radicals who can’t stop talking about communism, plastic bags and drag.

It’s nice the Jazz give us regular reminders they are super super inexperienced in the backcourt
Be pretty amazing if all these fucking gen x and boomer snowflakes actually melted away to Texas and Florida. Then Mamdani gets credit for lowering rent and fixing traffic and making NYC a better place to live which leads to an influx of young professionals and a revitalization of the city.
You laugh, but this is how the exododus went extinct
Trump could not be more explicit about his belief that the bad guys were and are right and they’re the bad guys. It’s like one of the few very consistent core beliefs he expresses.
Pretty Amazing that, even with his advanced years and diminished facilities, Trump can still say “I don’t care about you fucking commoners, not even a little” with such authority and gusto.
Guests cheer on women dancing for them at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.

This is the same group of people that gets offended by NFL halftime shows.
Man Boler looking rough in these pregame interviews. That Charlotte night life, undefeated.
