Well, exactly! I know for sure this particular butter packet markings aren't correct because otherwise the block would be half the advertised size, but that's ok, there is a method of escape from this knotty conundrum!

the first time I saw a US recipe, I thought it was a ratio thing. Use any cup in your kitchen as long as it creates the right ratio with the other ingredients. I only understood later that it's some kind of measurement!

It’s a TikTok thing- “killer”, “dead”, “suicide” etc leads to algorithm down rating or demonetisation, so people euphemise (and presumably get in the habit of it). To be clear, I am also of your opinion on this.

(Ingredients: ghee, sugar, elaichi, rava (semolina I think?), besan and maida (plain refined flour). excellent for one's health, highly recommend.)
