As the oligarchy begins to take shape, this meme seems more prescient than ever. They have convinced you that immigrants are your enemy while they pick your pockets at the same time, you’ve been duped. It’s the billionaires who are ruining this country, not migrants. Always has been. #RiseAndResist

My first summer of research, my first talk, my first paper, the start of my scientific career -- all from Chandra data. Many others can say the same.

I co-wrote this with Magnus, Maria, Samantha and Huei because Chandra stands for even more than that: a principle. An idea. #SaveChandra

One of my favorite images from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory. The Tycho supernova remnant looks soft and fluffy. The colors map to the X-ray energies which tell us about the elements in this exploded star and their motions.

Spent part of this week at a meeting for the 25th anniversary of the Chandra telescope, which waffled between celebratory and funereal. A lot of talks had a #SaveChandra feel to them. Here's one result of many presented that was only possible with Chandra data:

Astronomers detect the first astrosphere around a sunlike star
Finding a bubble of hot gas blown by the stellar wind from a young star gives researchers a peek at what our sun was like when it was young.
