Unhook ourselves from oil and gas and we unhook ourselves from dependency on dictators, autocrats and expansionist regimes all over the planet.
Renewables and other low-carbon energy sources are not just good climate sense. They are also good political sense.

A very long and important THREAD -

The real reason the US is invading Venezuela goes back to a deal Henry Kissinger made with Saudi Arabia in 1974.

And I'm going to explain why this is actually about the SURVIVAL of the US dollar itself.

Not drugs. Not terrorism. Not "democracy." 1/

In the Times today there’s an op-ed saying that childless women may have legitimate “private” reasons for declining to give birth. But one reason I have is not private but explicitly political: I want my life to serve as a rebuke to the notion that childbearing is women’s highest or truest calling.

In this astonishing image from Satyajit Ray’s Devi, the individual and her surroundings are dissolved by sunlight. This trick-of-excessive-light symbolises the delusion that has been imposed on Doya; the film suggests that the clearer light of reason might have prevented this.

I sound insane when I say this but I truly believe a big part of the Trump admin’s approach to energy policy is driven by gender anxiety. They think coal and oil are manly and renewables are effeminate.
Breaking News: The Trump administration ordered construction to stop on a $4 billion wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island that has already mostly been built.
Trump Administration Orders Work Halted on Wind Farm That Is Nearly Built
The order to stop construction on Revolution Wind off the coast of Rhode Island is part of a campaign against renewable energy.
