Crystal & Daniel are like those best friends who have each other in a voice call almost 24/7 (except the voice call is him chattering away in her head while she responds only when no one is around to hear her talking to herself)

Jayde & James were both born/raised in Riverview, CA.

Jayde lived with her parents & older brother until her parents divorced (after a rocky marriage) when she was 17.

James’ mom died when he was 9, after which his father coped with alcohol & became neglectful & verbally abusive.

paused as though it were something he had to think quite deeply about. "Before I answer, I'm curious to know what you think I am."

Struggling to keep a straight face, I said the first thing that came to mind as an offhand joke. I asked if he was a demon.

"Oh! I have been accused of being a demon a time or two, but no. Your soul is safe from me, Crystal."

I caught myself about to laugh and smothered my smile. "Okay. If you're not a demon, are you...my guardian angel?"

"Me? An angel?" He cackled. "While I have no problem considering myself your guardian, you are tragically deluded if you believe I'm an angel."

"Are you admitting that you're kind of
an ass?"

"I'm kind of offended."

I’m…not sure! Drafting is the most frustrating & time consuming part (the only part I ever get *stuck* on & find myself avoiding/procrastinating), but it’s also the core essence of writing, and drafting when inspired / in the zone is one of my absolute favorite things. 😅

Sort of?? Ice is very hot & fabulously wealthy, but he is also deeply selfish & cruel. James, while not *not* hot, doesn’t take great care of himself & has visible scars & dark circles, but he’s ultimately a good person, which makes him more attractive than Ice. Kindness is sexy, folks

His whole purpose is to teach magically inclined humans how to cast, but he’s a bit extra & likes to be bffs with his bonded conjurer, so he tries to help out any way he can in other areas of life too.

I used to be a pure discovery writer, so I’m comfortable making shit up as I go, but I don’t have all day every day to spend writing like I used to, so I try to develop a general idea of my main cast & write a rough outline before starting new projects. But I keep it flexible.

Editing! I love rewriting scenes and line editing passes. Even proofreading. I think I could spend forever editing. I mean,,, I use to rewrite entire works just for fun. lol

That moment while drafting where you get SUPER inspired & a scene flows very easily is always nice too.
