I haven’t been here for a while. Figured I should check in on how everyone is coping with the ongoing insanity. I do like the stand-up Dem activity at the state levels. About time we didn’t think changes in Congress or SCOTUS were the only moves.

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules.
It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

These people were following the law and went to check in with immigration like they are supposed to.
This woman's immigration case was dismissed, which made her immediately undocumented.
So ICE took her into custody.
The air conditioning was off in the back of the truck.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

This sounds pretty terrible to me. In addition to abandoning DEI and their own principles, Paul, Weiss is going to actually do pro bono work in support of Trump policies to the tune of $40 million ?? I hope the next thing I read is that they dissolved.
It is a sad day for the legal industry. Paul Weiss, didn't just bend a knee, it set a new standard for shameful capitulation. This is a stain on the firm, every one of its partners, and the entire legal profession.
