If you haven't ever had to apply for IRB approval to conduct human subject research I don't think you can appreciate how profound of a violation of ethical research practices this is. This is information collected from a vulnerable community in a medical context disclosed without consent.

Oslo University Hospital caught using trans patients' journals for research purposes:
- Without the patients' consent to participate in research
- Affecting minors
- 1700 of them
- Taking highly sensitive information from said journals

One thing that I really love about the latest iterations of apps with AI is that they do things like flag correctly spelled words as misspelled and the correction is just "no suggestions".

I enjoy taking time out of my day to delete the word and spell it exactly the same to fix it.

I am back from a 10-day sojourn across the Outback of South Australia! I learned about ancient Aboriginal trade routes, bush tukka, and ochre. Also a lot about geology and ecology.

I have the same opinion on AI book covers as well. Every time I see one, I always assume that the author used AI to write the majority of the content as well. Aka probably not a well done book, and is just content slop quickly pushed out.

Is it just me, or is seeing brands that use AI ads like these make me think of them more as cheap knockoffs rather than as something good quality to purchase?
Like AI is slop, it cheapens any brandname it's associated with. As if they couldn't afford to hire real people to work in their campaign.
