The echo chamber claim is projection, is the thing. Gripes about it come from people who want for their perspective to dominate, and for those who delineate from it to be reviled and ostracized. Because that’s what happens to their opinions. Because their opinions are either ahistorical or bigoted.
People interact with others they fundamentally disagree with all the time. For example, I know some of you like mushrooms or refuse to watch post golden era episodes of The Simpsons or believe that era ends at S8.
