I know or am familiar with a lot of people in the tabletop rpg space. The people I trust in the space are far fewer in number. Every hobby, art form, or group has issues, but I’ve watched these particular issues play out from a distance and up close over many years and the patterns are depressing.

If you never experience that discomfort then you have a lot of actions open to you, psychology wise, that other people cringe from. It would be a hell of an advantage in manipulation and politics and shit.

Maybe some of us are just optimized for that, in this way. (Not a good thing)

There should not be people who can destroy your opportunities via whisper networking. We gotta stop investing so much social power & capitol in folks cause they’re big in voice & online presence.

I mean, I will also buy in on people being very duplicitous in their motives and stated ideals, sure. But on the face of it, there also has to be a large group that just never has issues with cognitive dissonance.

I honestly think that a lot of our issues are because some subset of people seem to be immune to the discomfort caused by cognitive dissonance. They sincerely hold two or more conflicting beliefs, or act in opposition to them, and just...are fine with that?

The bell is composed of a long since decomposed skull that seems to always be screaming. Despite its ghastly appearance, this piece is a fully functional musical instrument. This horn grants a +1 item bonus to Performance checks while playing music with it.

Activate-Doot Doot [2] (auditory, manipulate); Frequency Twice per day; Effect You play a short tune causing two illusory skeletal figures carrying similar instruments to emerge from the ground occupying your same space. The skeletons begin to dance around you and play an oddly upbeat melody for 1 minute. The skeletons move with you when you move.

Activate-Shivers Down Your Spine [R] (auditory); Requirements You have at least one illusory skeleton still dancing around you; Trigger A creature hits you with a melee Strike; Effect One of the skeletons jumps in front of the attack and shrieks loudly.
