It's a wrap on our intensive 3-week Jewish-German Berlin program "Migration & Memory," which this year attempted to frame Jewish migration & memory in the context of other groups' within Germany, past & present. Some highlights & speaker recs if others are interested 1/

Several so-called “fact checks” circulated this past month from Israel-aligned networks operating in Germany. The latest Staatsräson Monitor edition reviews them. Short descriptions below, and our analysis is in the link.

Bearing in mind what Edward Said had to say about who has "permission to narrate", it would be good to hear from Arabic speakers in general and Palestinians in particular about their word and concept for "uprising", what it means to them, and what they make of the Western debate about that word.

I think all my old mates emigrating because there were no jobs between 2008-2014, and then most of my new mates emigrating between 2018-2025 because there are no gaffs, has had a greater effect on social cohesion than migrants

Imagine being Irish and being anti immigration??? Make it make sense! How’s your uncle getting on there in Sydney? How’s your nephew doing in Dubai? I heard the American cousins were over for a visit last month?

Zionism is considered colonial because of its relationship to the non-Jewish inhabitants of historic Palestine and the ways in which the Zionist movement, and its successor in the form of the State of Israel, treats them. I think it's pretty straightforward.

As dramatic as this will sound (for which I apologise), this is as big an alarm bell as I have heard in years - they have been here over a decade, settled with kids, socially-engaged, German-speaking. The very immigrant this country - this continent? - claims to want.
Last week I checked in on a friend, someone who I thought would be one of the very last immigrants (who have any other options) to leave Germany, only to find that they and their family are already in the process of leaving. Their explicit reason: the rise of fascism. Very, very disturbing times.
