Hope you like LA, ‘cause that’s what most of this is about. A lot of it will be baseball, a lot of that will be Dodgers. A certified nobody.

If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

When the MLB postseason player bonus pool is disclosed in the coming weeks I think it’ll break last year’s ~$130M record and the teamside take will pay for last offseason’s clubhouse renovations twice over.

Want to hear something crazy?

Everybody thinks the Blue Jays are a great team that was playing great baseball in October.

They went 7-7 in their last fourteen games, eight of them at home. Add in a 3-1 win over the Yankees in the DS and they went 10-8 in Oct.

October baseball is weird.

Oh, no! Who could possibly want to invest in [checks notes] real estate in NYC now?!?
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

Goodness gracious, we’re parade day plus one and *already* back to Dodger “concerns,” east-coast sports media?

Clayton Kershaw announced his retirement pregame on Sept 18.

His teammates responded by going 21-6 to send him off with back-to-back World Series Championships.

I am running out of time to post this so here goes:

Even if the Jays win the Series, John Schneider will never be the one, true John Schneider.

in fact, I went to look, and thanks to @baseball-reference.com for making this easy: there were 22 different 5-game spans where LA's offense had a .651 OPS or worse, as they have in the World Series.

22!

If watching the Dodgers lineup makes you think “I bet this whole team has COVID right now” remember all the times this year they played like they had COVID, and that it’s pretty much impossible to get COVID that many times in six months.

Forty years ago MLB teams opened their books to an independent economist and were proven to be lying liars who lied.

Until they open their books that way again, let that be your default assumption about any claims they — and their media water carriers — make about their finances.

Toronto used 38 pitchers this season. The Dodgers used 40.

I know it is customary to whine about Dave Roberts using [scrub relief pitcher you hate] when down two runs in a road game in May, but it is not a coincidence that the pennant winners load-manage their better arms.

I can see how you’d want to stick with your quarterback and see how it goes but you’re probably not going to win without any coaching.

I think we are probably all underestimating “he’s obviously willing to wear orange” as the definitive factor.
If you're a pro baseball-only person, you might not know who Tony Vitello is. Lucky for you, I do, and I'm very excited about the prospect of him managing a major league team, and, well, why post when you can blog?

What would the Giants get if they hire Tony Vitello? And can they give this college coach the tools he needs to win?

Freddy Peralta would make $8M for MIL in 2026. $8M. And every serious team trying to win would do it with an $8M Peralta. So I don’t want to hear about “the Dodgers spend too much how can we compete?” when Attanasio won’t spend $8M of his revenue-sharing checks on a 3+ WAR starting pitcher.
