She looks like Dr. Michel from the original Mass Effect, but, like, made of meat instead of polygons. It's freaking me out.

since we're talking about pies- one of my favorite internet traditions is r/costco every year, without fail, featuring multiple top-of-page posts of people completely agog at the scale of the costco pumpkin pie display. it must feel like walking onto a sherman tank factory floor in 1944

In the future, all relief pitchers will be starting pitchers for 15 minutes, twice: First as failure, then as tragedy.

Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

I interviewed Logan Cooley for a Sports Illustrated feature on the Michigan move when he was still at Minnesota and came away startled by how much sauce he had. I did not think hockey players were allowed to have that much sauce.
The Hats Were Not Enough For Logan Cooley | Defector
Before he’d even entered a legit NHL game, Logan Cooley made an exciting first impression on me. Playing a 2023 preseason contest in Melbourne for a team called the “Arizona Coyotes” (I guess that’s s...

One year my brother and I were both doing Thanksgiving with our in-laws so my parents quite reasonably decided just to get takeout instead of doing a whole rigmarole. They did not check beforehand whether the restaurant would be open on Thanksgiving.
Realizing that if I tell my parents that, this year, fuck it, I'm just getting Thai takeout for Thanksgiving I (a) will not have to spend two days cooking; and (b) will get a few weeks of peace around the holidays due to the silent treatment they'll give me. Really failing to see any downsides here.

If you've got a small gathering and/or don't want to deal with the hassle of a whole turkey and/or find the Thanksgiving menu to be too fat and salt-forward:

I'm open to the idea that Western Raymour-and-Flanigan society doesn't have the only good ideas on how and where to sleep. But the problem she ran into--are you really bringing a date back to your dog bed?--is checkmate here.
You know what? I don’t hate it. She’s allocating her resources elsewhere and she’s happy. As someone who occasionally sleeps on the floor or the couch depending on need, preach.

No matter what you think of her argument on the merits, it's so refreshing to see someone come in with an actual take. This woman has the courage of her convictions, which is more than I can say for most of you. Live by the take sword, die by the take sword.
Bitch what the fuck?!
