Cubs gotta stop playing with their food

The point to first is bleakly hilarious. Like watching someone die gruesomely in a Wes Anderson movie

J.T. Realmuto is pointing to first base. Just a brutal, brutal way for your season to end

You know, maybe Sánchez doesn't have his good command, walks a couple guys and hangs a breaking ball to Ohtani. Just a routine, vanilla, Episcopalian 5-2 loss. I think we all could've lived with that.

I had made my peace with the Phillies losing this series. The Dodgers are a brutal draw and they played it close the whole way. No shame in losing.
I was, however, hoping for that loss to come in a style that wouldn't make Phillies fans act like crazy people all winter.

Happ *crushed* that, jeeeezus

One of the dumb FanGraphs blogs I'm most proud of was this thing about the Royals signing Jordan Lyles. It's about how if you don't get outs, baseball won't let you leave.

I guess we're learning tonight that if you don't score, baseball won't let you leave either.
Royals Seek Liberation Through Jordan Lyles
Will Lyles transform the Royals’ pitching staff into a winner? Most likely not. But this isn’t a team that needs to win. This is a team that needs to put outs into the volcano so they can go home at…

Sasaki and Luzardo just trading zeroes into November. I died of a stroke weeks ago but nobody noticed until the flies became an issue

Duran's the right call. If it doesn't work, Thomson will get crushed for it, but I think this is the right move.

Alex Call hasn't made an out yet all series and Shohei Ohtani has reached base twice in 18 PA

Nick Castellanos has looked like the worst baseball player I've ever seen this series, apart from two enormously clutch doubles

just getting this out of my system
Lawful good: Charlie Morton
Neutral Good: Nick Foles
Chaotic Good: Kiké Hernández
Lawful neutral: Marcus Smart
True Neutral: Dani Carvajal
Chaotic Neutral: Emi Martinez
Lawful Evil: Sam Bennett
Neutral Evil: Claude Lemieux
Chaotic Evil: Draymond Green

I guess I never looked at it this way because my team was never on the receiving end until now but Kiké Hernández is, like, a Marcus Smart level of annoying guy to lose to in the playoffs.

The fact that you'd even think about casting Matthew Macfadyen as Guiteau elevates Tom Wambsgans to a new level of all-time great TV performances

"lower body abscess"
Gross!

Tanner Scott had a lower body abscess procedure, Dave Roberts said. It was unexpected — he started showing signs during the workout day.

Roberts didn’t rule out Scott’s availability for the World Series, should they advance that far.

I would not presume to tell Bryce Harper how to play baseball but he thinks he's a 70 runner when at best he's a 45
baumann.bsky.social
The Phillies made three outs in the top of the 8th:
1) sac bunt
2) ludicrous TOOTBLAN, even for Harper
3) 396-foot flyout
