Scam alert: there's an IngramSpark impersonator at ingramsparkbookpublishers dot com. Part of a wave of publishing/ghostwriting scams from Pakistan that hijack authors looking to self-publish--they often "borrow" well-known publisher names but this one also "borrows" the real IngramSpark's logo
Screenshot of IngramSpark impersonator's contact form, with chat window where scammer sales rep "Travis Clark" claims that "We are Ingram Spark's hands-on services department. You will be able to find our information here: https://www.ingramsparkbookpublishers.com/

Sadly we’ll never get to read that novel. Janice loved long bike rides and I’m picturing her riding her bike on a fine summer day without a care in the world right now.

Janice was one of the many writers who was supportive of me while I was going through my own cancer treatment 5 years ago.

Received news yesterday that a writer I knew through my local writing group died from cancer. She had been diagnosed over a year ago and briefly won a reprieve from it last spring. Janice was working on a historical novel that fictionalized a relative’s exp growing up as a young woman in the 1920s.

Or Donald’s underwear which are most certainly gold plated.

Here's the same shot from Feb 2017 with a meeting with Justin Trudeau. No gold leaf in sight.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Donald Trump in the Oval Office in Feb 2013 with distinctly a lot less gold leaf than in 2025

Sorry I misspoke. They got conditional sentences not conditional discharges. Either way they get no additional jail time. But they will have criminal records. Lich has already proven she can’t follow bail orders. We’ll see how she does this time around.

Please write both your govt officials and the Ottawa Citizen if you feel safe doing so. I think they need to hear from people that this is not forgotten.

Bluesky's lack of a coms team does indeed give us some of these funny moments such as:

"You're aware that you are ostensibly speaking for the company with the current role you have and the subject matter you're wading into, right?

what?"

I do find it hilarious how they immediately backtracked after this and deleted the comment
a member of bluesky saying "Yeh" in response to the above post, with a journalist responding asking to get their exact quote over the thread in which the bluesky member responds with "what" and the journalist then rephrasing the question only for the bluesky member to delete the entire thread

I would love this to be rolled out across the UK but it's so vanishingly unlikely I can barely see the percentage.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Good point! I still cling to my Vinyl collection even though I haven’t owned a decent turntable in years.

Also my vintage 1983 VIC-20 and its tape deck (which was obsolete when I bought it) replaced by the oh so fancy Commodore 64 and its external floppy drive.

Random question: What piece of “obsolete” tech do you still hang onto and why? (regardless of whether you use it regularly or not)
