There’s a young Black boy in my neighborhood that most people would describe as a YN but he was always friendly & respectful to me. I would give him snacks after school & ask about his day. when he was in 7th grade, one day I randomly asked him “what’s making your heart so sad?”

Justice-minded folks have a habit of fetishizing youth participation and throwing masses of activated young people at a problem while pledging support and having reverence in the background. This leads to most of those young people getting ground under and burned out and leaving the work w in 5 yrs.

The young people who would have been most likely to lead the domestic anti-fascist fight in 2025 were repeatedly arrested, beat, jailed, mocked by elites and non-elites over the past 5 years. This was bipartisan. I find it interesting whenever some people ask 'where the young people are' now.
