My brand is “my clients’ minds are too complex and different for a singular message, plan or brand, I will take their feedback over anything prescriptive”

Even that sentence is too long.
I wish everyone in my life wasn’t so confident I’d be going back to stand up. I’m supposed to portray an air of mental stability.

A lot of people I coach more traditionally (as opposed to specific goal based coaching) have undergone therapy. They have the insights they need. They know what behavioral changes they need to make, where their issues come from, maybe even which habits they must enact, just not how. 1/

But honestly this holiday season, any time someone is attacked, play dumb. Pretend you genuinely don't get it. Even if it's targeted at you. Make mean people lay out their reasoning for all to see. Then pretend you still don't get it. Hard to change minds at a single gathering in front of everyone.

This holiday season, it’s important to make your own fun. When relatives ask if you’re seeing anyone, say you’re seeing a professional basketball team but are afraid they might find you’re cheating on them with their rival team. (Or say you’re seeing 1 magician, works equally well.)

There are two ways to look at this guy from thousands of years ago:
This person had a sense of humor about himself, or this guy had a really shitty business. So I guess if you're trying to run a business, get rid of the negative reviews. If you're trying to take life less seriously, be Ea-Nasir.

Figured I'd remind y'all of what you already know in case you're unnecessarily blaming yourselves. substack.com/home/post/p-...
You Are Not Under Qualified Or Failing, They're Under Hiring And Underpaying.
Reminding you of what you already know in terms of the current economy- that your struggles are likely not your fault. It's easier to blame ourselves, not more truthful.

I think the issue is we were still on the DSM 4 when I was in college. At least that’s my best guess as to why I don't qualify and older grads don't qualify. Especially since it wasn't even my major- but I do have enough psych courses to qualify for programs I'm looking at if they weren't so old.

I've been told by several therapists not to go unless it satisfies my interest because I have the knowledge already. But I'm skeptical of this and I DEFINITELY know being a coach doesn't convey it. My coaching courses were 2 weeks of my life. That's ridiculous.

These are the two areas I'm most interested in (seeing as the IFS lottery is just impossible to win) but really any program will do if it's affordable and I can worm my way in there! Especially if it helps me show proper respect to clients with different backgrounds/experiences from mine!
Anyone know art or somatic therapy programs I could qualify for even if my psych classes/college credits are old af? Especially online programs? Perhaps there is an exam I can complete to show I have learned changes from the DSM 4 to 5? I cannot afford to go back to undergrad on top of this!!

Whenever I combat my internalized ableism in a visible way, I always feel better. Not just physically, but mentally. The truth is people don't care what you do or look like (and on the rare occasion they do, THEY'RE very clearly the intrusive weirdo here.)

This year clients are having fewer sessions and/or going on discounts they didn’t take before. And I get it. The global economy is trash. Experience has also taught me most people want to pay you what you’re worth and will go back to old rates when they can. 1/

Being a coach and scheduling my clients has made me hate daylight savings and its weird rules so much. Some people are literally in the same time zone as I am only half the year. Europe changes over at different times than this continent. Some states and provinces don't change over on this continent

I can be super firm if I have to be I recently told a (friend) middle-aged hyper masculine man from New Jersey to take a bubble bath, listen to Le Tigre and not contact me again until he gets in touch with his muse independently of what gatekeepers want!!

It feels weird enough to be in the wellness sphere I don’t need to add white person yoga in a faux casual setting. (But I will add what was aspirational to me: following every silly whim that makes me happy, even if it’s not “productive.”)

I am sorry I do not have a photo of myself doing yoga in a backyard, in front of a pool or the ocean. I do in fact, still life coach.

I can work with you on fitness goals, but I will absolutely never lend credence to the BMI system at large, crash diets or wellness industry myths. I’d rather refer you to a nutritionist and lose out on money than send you down a bad, unsustainable path 1/

The ADHD regret of having spoken too much about an idea for a project and now you’re bored with it before even starting.
