My third and final blog post on spectral rendering is out. This one compares results of RGB and spectral rendering under different illuminants and draws conclusions.

It's interesting how, even though nerd culture has gone through this massive boom, nerdy content is still diluted with self-deprecation. Billion dollar franchises that still don't think people are actually nerdy.

RGB rendering is founded on lies and perpetuated by misconceptions about the practicality of spectral rendering. My new blog post series describes a spectral GPU path tracer. Part 1 focuses on how to make it work with existing RGB assets.

Microsoft has clearly never used Xbox live with the average microphone people have. How on earth is the AI going to parse that garbage?
This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

I had an impulse to see if I could make a basic hair shader that doesn't require any specially made meshes or textures. Came up with this modification of the Unity Standard shader.

The shapes below are just standard Unity spheres and capsules and only a simple normal map is used; no other textures.
