My mopey vampire body horror short The Fix is now on Youtube. This was my second year film school project, which means it's about ten years old now. Still proud of it, even if it is overwrought and way too melodramatic.

I won't lie, as much as I bitch about Shudder, I do look forward to these V/H/S things every year. Even when they suck there's at least some fun monsters to look forward to.

me, not wanting to do chores: i'm the best house cleaner in all of japan

out of nowhere, ken hayakawa:
the character ken hayakawa from 70s show kaiketsu zubat. an ongoing part of the show is characters declaring they are the greatest (golfer, billiards player, trumpet musician, etc) in japan and ken stepping up to declare they are only the second, and he is the best

Those scenes led to it being the one movie to actually give me nightmares as a teenager. Still my fave Carpenter.

I actually love how much my bones pop and crack in the morning because I get to wake up feeling like a J-horror ghost.

Completed Shin Godzilla commission!! Main inspiration was the work of Yuji Murakami - my favorite Godzilla artist, like, ever - but then when I realized I needed to add in the cityscape to balance out the composition I turned to the Ohrai Godzilla '84 poster for reference. Love how this turned out.

This makes me so happy. This movie means a lot to me and seeing it get a second life (hehe) on physical media really brings a smile to my face.

So excited to share that I have an essay in this upcoming release of Larry Fessenden's excellent take on Frankenstein, Depraved. Few filmmakers mean more to me than him and it was a true honor to be included in this.

Holy shit, Sam Sherman died.

This guy was like the last surviving connection to the world of drive-in schlock as it once was. I've listened to this guy's audio commentaries repeatedly, just an endless well of info and stories from that era. Really wish I still had my Al Adamson set right now.

I think the biggest mark that catholicism left on me is this compulsion to watch something I know I won't like because I've watched too many things that make me happy recently.

As we're in the season, consider relaxing with a weird PG horror film called A Meowy Halloween. Free to stream on Tubi, Hoopla, and Prime Video.

It's about a talking cat that has to use the Nekkomeownicon to exorcise a demon ghost dog and save her human.

Gizmo Cat lives forever!
