Sports. Law. Rock n’ Roll. Religion?
I can’t believe I drafted Blake Snell to my fantasy team. Out 3 months with a sore shoulder. What’s next, a yeast infection?

U.S. Marines killed 24 civilians in Haditha, Iraq, and documented the aftermath. For years, the military tried to keep the photos from the public.
The Haditha Massacre Photos That the Military Didn’t Want the World to See
When U.S. Marines killed twenty-four people in an Iraqi town, they also recorded the aftermath of their actions. For years, the military tried to keep these photos from the public.

For "One First," me on the good (a commitment to *meaningful* pre-removal judicial review); the bad (making relief for those already removed much harder); and the ugly (throwing Chief Judge Boasberg under the bus) in #SCOTUS's 5-4 Alien Enemy Act ruling:

140. The Disturbing Myopia of Trump v. J.G.G.
In normal times, it might be possible to defend the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling on Monday vacating a pair of temporary restraining orders in the Alien Enemy Act case. But these aren't normal times.

This is more important than you realize. Bluesky doesn’t downgrade links. Which means news sites will get more traffic from here than other sites.

Which gives them economic reasons to post here first.
Bluesky says it is now sending referral traffic through its "go" subdomain to make it easier for publishers to track the traffic coming from the social network (Sarah Perez/TechCrunch)

Trump claims power to overturn Article I of the Constitution (Congress's authority over spending); Article II (predecessor's pardon power); and Article III (by defying a federal court order).

I think he pissed everyone off first for complaining that the Giants were anxious to bring him back from the injured list (given his not showing up in shape) and then didn't pitch his last start in a very public way. Not something that would have sat well with Buster.

“It’s a sad spectacle to see a law firm …rendering itself into an instrument for lawlessness. It’s also a cautionary example of how lawyers should not conduct themselves as the Trump regime proceeds with its effort to replace the nation’s justice system with one governed by cronyism and corruption.”
While the Trump Regime is targeting lawyers for conducting themselves ethically, other lawyers are seeking to profiteer by aiding in Trump's assault on the rule of law, as I discussed here.

Good. No different than publishing a newspaper article. Make writers civilly responsible for their publications, if it’s defamatory.
without section 230, you could have a world where bluesky is liable for me calling this man a clueless, tech illiterate, fascist enabling motherfucker
It’s time to repeal Section 230. We must be able to take social media companies to court for addicting kids and enabling drug trafficking on their platforms.

Scary story. If the church is trying to stop young people from leaving the faith, this isn’t the answer.

Jimmy Butler could use a reality check. Pat Riley has far more cachet than he does and was absolutely right about his criticism of him last summer. Plus, if he is angry about not being extended, prove your worth now and go sign somewhere else this offseason.

I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the idea that we have to succumb to the red meat, editorial-obsessed populous, but I guess that’s the winning formula.
"The Times, which now supposedly employs like 10% of the journalists in the country, absolutely botched their coverage. It was probably worse than 2016. They had a scoop from John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, calling him a fascist. They basically caught and killed their own scoop."
How Democrats can win the messaging war
"Liberals trust the mainstream media — foolishly, I think. The trust is not deserved," Ryan Cooper tells us.

This Ryan Smith profile in ESPN was more PR than journalism. Took at face value that Smith dunks and handles the ball against former pros; allows him to complain about… having a job.
