This year I am going to fall back in love with reading. Grad school beat my love of reading to a bloody pulp, and I'm resolving to heal it. I've already made a start on my TBR backlog!

Current read: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO READ THIS BOOK, I AM QUELLE STUPIDE.
The comments are full of people talking about how this is because of DOGE. Folks, it's not. If you do a quick search for your name you are going to find this stuff. Grok is making it a little easier to locate but it is not difficult even without it.
NEW: Elon Musk's Grok chatbot will, with minimal prompting, provide residential addresses of everyday Americans.

Prompts as simple as "[name] address" immediately returned accurate home addresses of private citizens — alongside other personal info we didn't ask for.

Gods bless @mcuban.bsky.social. My insurance wants a prior authorization for a medication that costs $11 for a 90 day supply on @costplusdrugs.com.

And people wonder why health care in the US is so expensive.

My music app put KPop Demon Hunters on for my workout and I am doing that grumbly thing I do when I discover something that's popular is actually quite fun.

Yes, Xcel Energy, so very helpful.

I used to get paid to do this, so here's a couple from the archives.

When your mom goes for a leg wax, the salon has to rent a Zamboni.

Your mom had to have her bypass surgery on a literal bypass.

Your mom doesn't have periods, she has ellipses.
Ya mom got a leather lace front with suede sideburns

Ya mom blood type is rague

Ya mom head so big she got a 5 head

She's the head of the class

You can see what's on her mind

Ya mom stares at orange juice because the instructions said concentrate

Yet another reason I make such a good Dax. 💜 We share a birthday!
Wishing a very happy birthday to Terry Farrell, who played Jadzia Dax on 6 seasons of #StarTrekDS9. She's now on the Delta Flyers podcast, recapping and reviewing episodes of DS9. ##StarTrek

YOU ALL REMEMBER WHEN TIM WALZ WAS CALLING THESE PEOPLE WEIRD, RIGHT?
I hope he does come out, so he finds that he’s unfuckable no matter who he’s after.

It's important to note that this whole Epstein thing is theatre. Pure, 100% theatre. The DOJ could release the files at any time. The drama around the votes is entirely a choice by this administration. They could just DO IT and instead they are *choosing* to cause more pain to the survivors.

Dems: Mamdani is too radical for our taste. Plus someone said he's antisemitic. And that name is scary to us! We need to keep him out.

Dems, 1 week later: Look lots of people have tattoos like that

Dems, 2 weeks later: Marjorie Taylor Greene, welcome to the Tent

I tried a new place for a facial yesterday and I got my usual laugh from the provider:

"Now that you're in your 30's it's important to...."

"I'm 44 on Wednesday."

"GIRL YOU HAVE THE SKIN OF A 30 YEAR OLD. MAYBE."

Once again, thanks for the gorgeous skin Grandma. 💜

We also aren't talking enough about how all of them live in the fantasy land that prices will go back down any meaningful amount.
We're not really talking enough about how the tariff reversals on fruits and nuts and spices is an admission by Trump that his entire economic program is a miserable failure.

Food poisoning FINALLY seems to be clearing up. I think tomorrow will be my last day of bland food and if all goes well, I can start eating semi-normally again on Monday.

Seriously. Who designed bodies???

I don't even have words for how evil this is.
For real, check this out. Evil.

The business partner at my firm is convinced that I can increase CPA exam completions by nebulously talking about "developing your career" and I keep shoving research at her that conclusively demonstrates that DOES NOT WORK for the people coming into the workplace now. /headdesk

Cue Pikachu faces from the Democrats in 3...2...1...
In the most predictable development ever, Mike Johnson is not committing to hold a House vote on ACA subsidies

My cats are the best nurses ever. 💜 I got food poisoning last night and today one or the other of them has needed to be on my lap at ALL times.

I normally don't believe in astrology but I did see a thing once that Scorpios can hold grudges forever and yeah, that's accurate, the universe will suffer heat death before I let something go.

Can we maybe not have a third of the Democratic negotiators be senators who are not going to have to face the voters ever again? Please?
November 10, 2025 at 1:12 AM
I wish I was surprised by this, but sadly I am not.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

And we did, indeed, get the same dickwad again. Le sigh.
I'm way more interested in the NYC results tomorrow than in my own city. We're just going to get the same dickwad again but NYC has the chance to do something amazing. Go Zohran!

Damn. 10/10, no notes.

Talarico has impressed me before, he's an excellent example of how the left can embrace faith.
Axios tried to bust James Talarico for following adult content creators on Instagram and I'm genuinely impressed by his campaign's response

So the one to 25,000 bad apples in the NYPD are "self-deporting?" What a great way to weed out the most prejudiced assholes. Congratulations, New York City!
