Go ahead, outsource all your family moments to AI. What are memories, anyway?
this is demonic. sorry to say but if you do this you should be shipped to a desert island away from the rest of us who still have human souls

S before T on the bookstore shelf.
Doesn't inspire confidence that they couldn't find "thesaurus."

Our entire culture is based in trying to avoid death and pain. I would never disrespect my dead father with an AI facsimile.
🧵Some things: I'm in a moment where I *desperately* want my mom. But that comes with the awareness that I miss her actual presence, lived experience, and the unique thing that was our relationship. Information given to a program *cannot* be those things.
IN DEPTH | If you could speak to your dead grandmother forever, would you?

One of those nights when your Tarot cards describe what you said in therapy and then a little more. The part you only said to yourself.

In 25 years of teaching creative writing, by far and away the two most common traits I've seen among successful writers are that they read avidly and that they support other writers enthusiastically.

Accidentally typed character named Billy as Silly, first time ever in 5+ years; one letter and I would have written an entirely different novel.

I miss the addictiveness in that everyone was in one place.
I don't miss the addictiveness of Twitter but many times I feel like I'm posting for 5 of you here.

I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?

A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

This one made me cry. Painfully astute.
Lately I’ve been doing interviews for my new book, and I keep getting some variation of the same question: How do you stay hopeful?

In truth, a lot of the time I’m not.

September’s comic is about what it feels like to be losing hope. You can read it here: aubreyhirsch.substack.com/p/the-storie...
