Great piece by my Cato colleague. “Since July, immigration agents have shot at least six people behind the wheel of a vehicle. The same playbook is used each time: the agent says they “feared for their life” as a vehicle was “weaponized” against them. Juries should decide, but we tie their hands.
Opinion | Renee Good wasn’t the first person shot in her car by ICE. The justification followed a familiar script.
Mike Fox: The officer who shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis might never have to defend his actions before a judge or jury.

🧵In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7

everyone knows that what trump is saying about renee good is a lie, including ICE and CBP. the messaging needs to be a lie in order to be effective. what they are communicating is this: opponents of the regime have no rights which you are bound to respect, and the conspiracy goes to the top.

Oh no, and I keep telling everyone I know we need to eat more fiber. I hope none go too far...
at least one prominent influencer will literally shit themselves to death this year. Mark it.
Trend-spotters are proclaiming that fiber is the new protein — the 2026 “it” nutrient. There’s a real risk the fad will backfire as people take fiber too far.

Here is what you need to know to benefit from the trend and the potential traps.

Real "oh my god, she admit it" moment here. Trump is treated as an uninteresting figure without agency so we can dump endless criticism on liberals for how they react to his "natural disaster." He "doesn't participate in moral frameworks" lmfao

And of course their politics don't work or achieve what it is they say they want. There is no amount of groups, gays, immigrants, communists, Democrats, that they can exclude and satisfy their complaints - the voters for this political program aren't afraid because of a real problem or threat...

A federal lawsuit argues that perusing travelers' personal data without a warrant or probable cause violates the Fourth Amendment.

Crazy that meta is throwing all this ad money it's printing at AI data centers like... Your golden goose has laid 74+ billion eggs and you're throwing like two thirds or more of them into the unprofitable crazy-making suicide-inducer? Oh, what's that, the hardware depreciates rapidly if it workn't?

Responses available when Republicans respond to denouncing ICE fascism with pogromist blather about immigrant rapists:
1) "The Rapist in Chief in the White House doesn't give a fuck about that; he's disappearing veterans and Green Card applicants and guys who just want a job building houses"
I also think it's important to go where the energy is, and weave your policy ideas to a narrative. People don't vote based on policy, they vote based on the story you tell. And if you're conspicuously silent about the jackbooted thugs, that makes it harder to argue that you're standing up

Keep an eye on this space - my earphones' app, which I use to turn noise cancelling on and off etc, has started briefly displaying an ad for the manufacturer on launch.
I'm just waiting for the day some shithead product ruiner at a consumer electronics company decides they should push an update to all their Bluetooth earphones requiring an app to work and making them forceplay ads intermittently. Except of course when you sign up for a janky premium subscription.
