The "follow" dichotomy I always struggle with is "I want to see every single thing you post" vs. "I want you to know that I like and respect you." My Following feed is so overstuffed as it is, but I hate the idea that people I don't follow back might think that I don't appreciate them!

The "follow" button confounds "I'm looking at your content" and "I endorse this content." We need two different ways to signal the difference between the two.

Today’s another day of working on mosaic, so another day of well loved movies for me, starting off with Pontypool! It’s been a couple years since I’ve seen it, and that’s too long, frankly.
Image text: Mrs. French's cat is missing. The signs are posted all over town. "Have you seen Honey?" We've all seen the posters, but nobody has seen Honey the cat. Nobody. Until last Thursday morning, when Miss Colette Piscine swerved her car to miss Honey the cat as she drove across a bridge. Well this bridge, now slightly damaged, is a bit of a local treasure and even has its own fancy name; Pont de Flaque. Now Collette, that sounds like Culotte. That's Panty in French. And Piscine means Pool. Panty pool. Flaque also means pool in French, so Collette Piscine, in French Panty Pool, drives over the Pont de Flaque, the Pont de Pool if you will, to avoid hitting Mrs. French's cat that has been missing in Pontypool. Pontypool. Pontypool. Panty pool. Pont de Flaque. What does it mean? Well, Norman Mailer, he had an interesting theory that he used to explain the strange coincidences in the aftermath of the JFK assassination. In the wake of huge events, after them and before them, physical details they spasm for a moment; they sort of unlock and when they come back into focus they suddenly coincide in a weird way. Street names and birthdates and middle names, all kind of superfluous things appear related to each other. It's a ripple effect. So, what does it mean? Well... it means something's going to happen. Something big. But then, something's always about to happen. a close up of a mosaic in progress on black mounting board. The tiles are a mix of grey, white, pink, orange, black, and green, and the image is of a cat’s green eye and grey cheek with a bit of calico orange and white

I feel like I could just slam printouts of my various stardew spreadsheets I’ve made for the various farms I’ve made onto the desk and they’d instantly be like: diagnosed [stamp]

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I ended up breaking this up into a few viewings and finished it tonight. This is one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen, I am absolutely in awe of everything about it. The sets, the lighting, the weather effects, the framing, the blood, the backdrops, all of it was so perfect

I’m finally watching Kwaidan and it’s breathtaking. The backdrop sky paintings in this second story “The Woman in the Snow” are so incredibly beautiful, I’m having a little trouble focusing on the subtitles
a snowy river bank with a man standing on a short pier. there are trees covered in snow on either side and a break in the trees reveals a mottled red and white painted sky a swirling inky blue sky with a pale yellow moon floating behind obscuring clouds. Below is a snowy landscape with barren, snow covered trees an extremely wide shot of a landscape framed by trees. In the far distance along the horizon stands a person. The sky behind is a blend of apricot oranges and blush pinks. There is a purple and darker pink streak running horizontally through the sky and just above it, a deep pink smudge that looks like a pair of lips a similar night scene to the previous one. A snowy landscape with dead trees, and the night sky is filled with swirling pale green forms that look like human eyes formed out of aurora borealis lights

one of the problems with developing a browsing zillow hobby is finding the *perfect* house and then you just have to sit there and wait for someone who can afford it to buy it and steal it away from your dreams 😭

A little thing I am noticing while watching dozens of 80s horror movies is how much americans in the 80s fully believed in the power of their garbage disposals to really take care of entire platefuls of food waste. It took a couple of decades, but it seems like no one does that anymore

Time for Critters! You probably pronounce that the usual way, like critters, however in universe, the aliens are a race called Crites (rhymes with lights). So shouldn’t the movie be pronounced Crighters? Anyway, this is such a charming little creature feature
critters movie poster featuring a huge alien critter: a large bipedal figure with huge claw hands and dinosaur feet, a massive toothy grin and a fur covered body. It’s standing in a farmer’s wheat field with two shooting stars streaking through the night sky behind it

possibly the most horrifying thing about this movie is watching men smoke cigarettes in a submarine when they’re unable to surface to refresh their oxygen

I really need to get some work on this mosaic done, so today’s gonna be a day for old favorites that I don’t need to actively watch because I know them so well. Starting off with one of the best of the early oughts, 2002’s Below, a wonderfully tense claustrophobic WWII haunted submarine movie!
the movie poster features a WWII era american submarine plunging into the inky depths leaving a lighter colored wake of bubbles behind it. In that lighter slash of water there’s a partially visible frightened woman’s face staring straight at the viewer. The title is in the upper left

because I most definitely post a lot of things like “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME” and I wholly understand in these times why seeing that could be heart stopping

just to remind folks who follow me for other than Liverpool reasons, when Liverpool plays, I do try to thread my reaction posts, so you can mute the thread, and I also try to hashtag each post with #YNWA, and you can click on it and mute the hashtag itself so you’ll never see those posts!

sports fans, it would make the rest of us really happy if you could thread your OH MY FUCKING GOD jump scare posts so the rest of us could mute the thread or at least understand the context of what you’re referring to
