Finally got to watch a movie I waited almost 15 years to watch and... it was ok-ish. Maybe I built it up in my mind because I had a huge crush on the film teacher that spoke so highly of it. It had some interesting visuals and scenes, but the end is so anticlimactic it actually pissed me off!

My only answer as a creator is to try and take what I find beautiful, to take what has made stories like Lord of the Rings resonate with so many people, and to explore those ideas in a way that does not replicate the racism. But to identify the good, you *need* to identify the bad.
