Can y’all please be on the lookout for my bike? Last seen in Elliot Park. It is a black Biria bike with red pedals and stickers of local news orgs on the bottom tube. It also has a Brooks saddle and adapters for Wolf Tooth pogies on the handlebars.

"Reserve Block 40 appears to be something of an afterthought, which perhaps belies some of the interesting facts related to its birth.

It should not come as a surprise that the official history of the park is ambiguous."

Generally the trend line is less car ownership in the metro core, especially among younger residents. The reasons are complex & multifaceted.

We don't keep, collect, or maintain this data ourselves but perhaps it is something that the regional TMOs do?

Any thoughts @moveminneapolis.bsky.social ?

What are the car-lite and car-free trends in the Twin Cities?

Certainly we could try crowdsourcing some anecdotes and stories!
gretakaul.bsky.social
It's a good question. Relatedly, I wonder how many households go down to one car from two, and how all of that has changed over time.

Good question!

Does anyone in Minneapolis organize family-friendly Metro Transit meet-up events? Meet up and ride the bus somewhere for coffee and treats? Bus equivalents of Perrenial Family Fun Rides?

This starts in less than three hours! Let's have a #LivableLyndale for everyone, not just those in automobiles. A shared use path on such a heavy commercialized area does not make sense and will cause additional chaos and headaches if that plan goes through.

Join the Livable Lyndale team this Saturday Oct. 4 at 2pm (meet at Painter Park) to Stroll & Roll for a Livable Lyndale! Let's show Hennepin County that a shared use path is NOT the solution for Lyndale Avenue South!

Stroll and Roll for a Livable Lyndale!
Saturday, October 4, 2-4 PM
Meet at Painter Park tennis courts (620 W 34th St, MPLS)
Let’s show Hennepin County that a shared use path is NOT the solution for Lyndale Avenue South!
Despite clear demands from community, Hennepin County has released a final design for the road reconstruction that compromises the safety and comfort of people biking, walking, and taking transit. Join the Livable Lyndale campaign on Saturday from 2-4 PM to walk, roll, or push our bikes along the sidewalk to demonstrate how crowded, unsafe, and uncomfortable it will be if all users are together in one space!

"It brings me no joy to say it, but I’ve definitely had far more uncomfortable experiences in the US riding transit than anywhere else, and that’s gotta say something. Even for me, a person who is enthusiastic about transit, it makes me think twice about taking it in a way I just don’t elsewhere."

Kudos to Axios and Kyle for covering safe streets. There's plenty we can learn from other cities about making our streets in the Twin Cities safe and equitable.

🗼 I arrived in Tokyo recently excited to try their legendarily efficient train system.

I left wowed by another mode of transit: its surprisingly safe streets.

Can Minnesota learn lessons from Japan’s war on traffic deaths? My reflection for @axios.com >> www.axios.com/local/twin-c...
What Minnesota can learn from Japan about street safety
Most major U.S. cities, including Minneapolis, have struggled to reduce traffic deaths. Japan has all but eliminated them.

"Poverty, crime and drug addiction are problems that extend far beyond a light-rail platform or public park. The answers here are both difficult and obvious. Until we provide large-scale care for people with trauma, or homes for people on the margins, our cities will continue to suffer."

A group of ten cyclists wearing helmets and cold-weather gear stand together smiling on a bridge, with their bikes in front of them. A city skyline and busy highway are visible in the background under a cloudy sky. Front and back view of a cream-colored T-shirt. The back has a large blue graphic of a city bus with bicycles and the words “joy ride” in bold text. The front has a small blue logo on the pocket that reads “our streets.”

Hey Minneapolis friends, it's the last day to make comments on the comment map for the Lyndale Ave "final" concept design.

Tell the County what you think about a shared use path and two ~12ft parking lanes along most of the corridor.

From the Twin Cities to the Twin Ports, public support for NLX should center on verifiable facts around cost, congestion and climate.
