Cheering from Canada🇨🇦

I’ve had migraines since I was a preteen. The pain is always centered on my right temple. Always. 40 years of predictable pain location.

Then last week, the migraine started on the left side and I couldn’t figure out how to deal with it. Like it made no sense.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Winnipeg police confirmed the identity of Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe to be Ashlee Shingoose.

Ashlee’s father Albert Shingoose had one request for Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew: sing a song.

My 10 year old dog, Taya has had chronic sores on her feet for the last 4-5 years. They sometimes get infected and, surprise! She’s allergic to the yeast that infects the sores 😩

The day after the US election in 2016, I had a regular meeting with 2 of the firm’s partners (I was in a support role). Before the meeting we were all chatting and one of them commented on Trump’s win and I *lost it*. Just went off about all the bad I could see coming from his win.

Reminder to any Americans who may be paying attention to Canada now:

-political party colours in Canada are not the same as in the USA. The Liberal party uses red in their logo & branding, and the Conservative Party uses blue.
-the next election hasn’t been called yet. It’s not being withheld.

Do Americans realize their image as a powerful nation doesn’t look so strong when everyone in a position of power is terrified of a seemingly-senile 78 year old man?

I just saw a recipe on IG that I want to try. And amazingly, the measurements for everything were in grams, including the flour! EXCEPT for 2 items:

“2 packets of yeast”
“2 sticks of butter”

Just saw this Heritage Minute that I’ve never seen before. It’s from 2019 but feels like it was produced in response to The Fanta Menace’s threats.

(I don’t remember who to credit with The Fanta Menace but it’s my new go-to name for 🍊💩)

I went into the grocery store to grab a few things I had forgotten to add to my pick up order. The shelves all had signs showing Made in/Product of Canada signs. And every aisle had people checking the backs of packaging to see where it was made.

Oh and eggs were on sale: 18 for $5.50 CDN 😂🇨🇦

Trudeau was on fire in his statement this morning.

My favourite part: he said he wants to speak to one specific American. Looks into the camera. “Donald,” he says in the tone you’d use with a child after they had a public tantrum and you want to keep your tone calm

This is a very strange kind of bot (I assume).

Both of these accounts have 8 or so reposted posts going back a day, nothing original to them, and they both posted the same link in reply to one of my posts - about the shit show in the Oval Office.

Anyone else getting these?

Watching Elementary while I work and recognized the voice of one of the cops in this episode. No one in my house* was excited to hear me yell “IT’S MILCHICK!!”

*I live alone with 2 dogs. They are surprisingly uninterested in Severance.

How did I not know that CBC Gem has 15 seasons of The Great British Bake-off? I’ve only ever seen random episodes here and there. Guess I know what I’m doing today!

(Its called the Great British Baking Show on the app for some reason *cough USA/Pillsbury*)

Slightly spoilery post about Paradise:

So far this show has hit most of my favourite genres: conspiracy thriller, murder mystery, slightly futuristic Sci-fi community in a bubble, and now epic destruction after a (redacted)?!?

My latest random craft obsession turned out to be unexpectedly cathartic. Highly recommend stabbing wool with a sharp needle over and over to help deal with the constant daily shit show.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. You can choose to dress in certain ways to elicit certain reactions (e.g., perform respectability), but real respect is about more meaningful actions. Important to not conflate how you choose to dress with how you judge others. Dress respectability is Victorian ethics.

There has been a lot of chatter today about Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump, some regarding this moment when White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked if the Ukrainian president plans to wear a suit. I want to address idea in this thread. 🧵

Added a new “wtf did I just say” moment to the loop that plays back when I’m trying to sleep.

Had a teams call with my boss & he had his camera on, and was holding his newborn.

My dumb ass said “oh! Is that your new little one?” And immediately realized what I said. 🤦‍♀️

Who else would it be?!??!?

“How dare you talk about this in front of the cameras we insisted be present for this conversation??”
ZELENSKYY: Putin broke the ceasefire. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?

VANCE: I think it's disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media

On our walk Taya found a small ball of white fur - looked like rabbit fur, maybe a pom pom from someone’s hat or mukluks. She was sniffing it and nudging it with her nose but she didn’t try to pick it up. She wandered away to sniff elsewhere after a minute.

I’m rewatching Psych for the 70th time and just realized something:

Timothy Omundson, plays Lassiter, a gun-happy, uptight, cop you would expect to be conservative. Yet in real life, the actor appears to be the opposite.
