March saw the third-highest number of layoffs in U.S. history, and 80% of them were caused by DOGE

This was before the tariffs

It's just...unbelievable

The tariffs are catastrophic. But so too are the abuses of power, so is the corruption, so are the police state tactics, so is the destruction of our health care infrastructure, so are the ways our national security is being endangered, so are the attacks on our core freedoms.

The real story isn’t the accidental journalist in the group chat; it’s that Trump’s inner circle is openly scheming against Europe and assisting Putin with his desired takeover of European countries. That’s the headline. That's the real story.

Top White House officials used disappearing messages on Signal for top-secret national security discussions—violating federal law & risking our security. Even worse? A participant was in Moscow.

Congress must investigate. This betrayal cannot stand .

💯 — not to mention the guy who chose them all
This is what happens when you have an entire cabinet full of folks who would NEVER pass a regular security clearance.

Led by a president who would never be able to pass one either.

RESULT: Democrats have flipped a state Senate seat in Pennsylvania.

Dem James Malone won by 1%, in a red district Trump won by 15%.

This is the second Dem legislative flip in 2025, after a red state Senate seat in Iowa earlier this year.

It’s worth stating this simply: For literally anyone in the US Govt from 1945 to 2025, Signalgate would require an instant resignation—and a criminal investigation. It would be a matter of personal *honor* to resign. The fact Mike Waltz & Pete Hegseth are choosing to fight it out is a terrible omen.

I was planning to travel to the US one last time to the @lawandsociety.bsky.social conference in May, in part to convince them to become less anchored to the US. But now both panels I was supposed to be a part of have fallen apart, because people from Aus and NL have run the numbers and pulled out
I wonder if my American friends understand how much Trump has destroyed the US as a travel destination. People are legitimately afraid that they might be detained for weeks in conditions that violate human rights standards, and have no idea how to avoid that outcome. So they aren't coming.

Several key things about this.

1) This is an area Scott Presler focused closely on to win PA last year.
2) Malone ran against Musk.

If Dems start having success running at Musk it will change behavior in DC.
HOW IT HAPPENED: James Andrew Malone, the mayor of a town of 5,000, ran on education, abortion rights, and opposing Elon Musk—in a district that had *never* voted Democratic.

Until tonight.

No Democrat had ever won this ancestrally Republican seat, but it's now the second Democratic pickup of the year.

If the White House is insisting that there was no classified or secret information in the Signal chat, does that mean Jeffrey Goldberg can publish it all?

The entire conversation is a disaster. It was an illegal use of a disappearing messaging app which none of them objected to. Hegseth appears to have copied and pasted the targeting packages into the chat, and Witkoff was literally in Moscow when he joined the chat. open.substack.com/pub/fpwellma...

Tesla stockholders:

An all-hands-on-deck meeting to soothe feelings of "Armageddon" where the CEO begs you not to sell your stock is a huge red flag.

And, if your CEO hasn't shown up for work for several months and is off lining up his next gigs, it's also probably a sign to sell.

The only way someone can be added to a Signal chat is if the person who started the text group--the admin--directly adds them or directly approves their request to be added.

There is no way Jeffrey Goldberg could wish his way into that text group.

Mike Waltz accidentally added him. That's it.

Unique to America, our health care system is designed not to make people well, but to make CEOs & wealthy stockholders incredibly rich. The result: We have the highest infant mortality rate of any wealthy country on earth. How cruel, how immoral is that? We need Medicare for All.
