ISC supports our NWSL members in their opposition to the High Impact Player (HIP) rule.
The HIP criteria are arbitrary & unjust, creating a two-tier system that undermines fair pay, player development, & international success-while placing players’ earning potential in the hands of media narratives.

....this is the NWSL's proposed criteria for who can access an extra $1m in off-cap salary.

The idea of not allowing someone to earn extra money because they do not fall into these categories but someone wants to pay them, is perplexing.

Once I felt like I had a handle on NWSL coverage, so many problems seemed to boil down to "can we get out of our own way?"

That was like 10 years ago, and even with undeniable, major progress, I feel like "can we get out of our own way?" is still the big question in women's sports.
Sorry it is sadly so funny to me that we hit peak women’s sports confluence today where the WNBA and the NWSL are both publicly arguing with their PA’s

we ask players to sacrifice their bodies in a way that will impact them forever, I think they deserve to make more than what the current cap allows for
if owners can’t afford an extra $1m for players, what’re they doing owning a sports team in the first place

Deeply compelling performance to send the Spirit back to the NWSL Championship. No drama this time. They're looking ready.

Spirit are really setting a new standard in the NWSL for interacting with the crowd, and I for one am here for it and also need it even bigger and better.

Leicy Santos balled out today. Led the team at halftime in total touches (53) and was subbed out at the 73rd minute with 73. Some great vision and connections today.

I have no words right now. I am absolutely stunned that #NWSL players just played through it after their teammate and colleague underwent a traumatic medical emergency like that. What are we even doing here?

i fear we're losing extremely important voices within the game, i don't know who would write this today and that is a very unsettling feeling
My favorite Becky Sauerbrunn moment isn’t anything she did on the pitch, but rather when she wrote this in the Springfield News-Leader calling out the Save Women’s Sports Act for not actually caring about women’s sports.

1. Today at the Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett emerged as a potential wild card, with at least one attorney in other LGBTQ+ cases expressing her questioning was curious.

In particular, she seemed surprised to learn about the history of anti-crossdressing laws.

This is going to be a long offseason, but it will be an important one for #AngelCityFC. It’s time the club decide if they want to be a soccer brand, or a soccer club. Most importantly, there just can’t be regression.

My early thoughts on the season that was, and a path forward.

Good Morning Los Angeles!

Now that the NWSL season is officially over and offseason in full swing, it's time to look at the season that was for #AngelCityFC. The club continues to grow off the pitch, but it's the lack of growth on it that's become a concern.
