The most noticeable difference without cars at Sunset Dunes is you can now hear the ocean. No honking, no engines, no exhaust to breathe. I took this standing where the roadway was.

I actually made out and took a quick bike ride to the beach.

Mindset settled to "a better world is possible…if we get rid of all these cars."

Sunset Dunes Park, formerly The Great Highway, on a clear late summer morning. People are strolling and jogging on a sandy strip of pavement next to the dunes, with a strip of the Pacific Ocean visible to the left.

Some local residents are still mad, but the sand was eating the highway anyway.
