We're trying to not have the heating on to save money but when it's really cold getting into bed, I've taken to blasting my hairdryer under the duvet when I get in for 30 seconds on high - It's bloody magical - highly recommended.

I hadn't thought of this aspect of why the salary sacrifice change is insane... Imagine thinking it's a good idea to have bigger disincentives for ordinary people saving for retirement than for high income people saving for retirement. It's obviously a terrible idea!

It bothers me how so many 'asset-rich, income-poor' types don't seem to know that equity release is a thing. Oh, you benefitted from decades of housing policy failure & now you've found yourself sitting on a mountain of gold? Maybe it's okay if some of that windfall makes its way back to the orchard
