🧬Soil eDNA isn’t a replacement for traditional surveys!

📣It’s a powerful complement, boosting scale & efficiency⚡ in biodiversity monitoring 🌿🌍
susheelbusi.bsky.social
Even more exciting → #eDNA abundances correlated with plant cover in multiple habitats 🌳🌾

🌾 Grasslands & 🌳woodlands showed the strongest associations.

And #MachineLearning🤖 models could 📊 predict habitat types from eDNA data with promising accuracy!
susheelbusi.bsky.social
From nearly 800 soil samples paired with 1 m² field surveys, we found:

✅ Genus-level eDNA captures comparable richness & composition to field surveys

📉 Slightly lower Shannon diversity, but strong overlap

Have you ever looked at some differentially occurring gene clusters in a microbial #pangenome and thought to yourself "I wonder if they contribute to any metabolic modules"?

With the most recent changes, the answer is a few clicks away in #anvio 😇
