Babygirl you are so offputting and abrasive and clearly have at least one personality disorder. I’m thinking I’ll develop a crush on you that, god willing, will go absolutely nowhere

We built a calculator that doesn't work, but don't worry, it's also a plagiarism machine that will tell you to kill yourself. It runs on the world's oceans and costs 10 trillion dollars.

In America we have city cops, different cops for your county, cops for the whole state, cops for soldiers, cops for malls, presidential cops, cops for the stock market, mail cops, federal cops, cops we secretly send to other countries. Even your neighbors get to pretend to be cops. We’re very safe

Liberals are not afraid of voters because that requires believing in democracy and mass action. They believe there are “adults” in the room represented by powerful donors and their orgs, that they must appeal to and if they appeal enough, they get power.

The commitment to bipartisanship among Democrats in Congress is not permeable by rational argument. The Republican Party backed a president that tried to steal an election and incited an attack on Congress. They were in physical danger. Nothing has changed. What more can words do?

The only thing that matters to most electeds is elections. When there's a real cost to supporting bipartisanship in primaries, Democrats will respond accordingly. Nothing will change until then and certainly not merely because it makes sense. There has to be a threat from voters themselves.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 7th episode of Dirty Pair, "愛こそすべて命賭けます逃避行!!" or "Love Is Everything, Betting Their Lives on Elopement", one of the most overtly trans-positive episodes of anime of its era. This was the future they predicted for us in 1985. We can still get there.

A "Dare-to-Die" Corps Medal for the Battle of Tai'erzhuang.

It was China's first victory against the invading Japanese in 1938, by luring them into pitched urban combat "Dare-to-Die" units used grenade bundles to immobilize 🇯🇵 tanks. The 🇯🇵 were later flanked and had to retreat.

Civility discourse is a war on thinking and writing clearly. None of this is in defense of nuance. What civility pundits want is to be absolved of responsibility for the content of what they say, provided it's expressed in a particular way. Their fight is against judgement itself.

i need everyone to kill the "egg prime directive" ciscentrism nonsense immediately in a world where they are going to claim transness does not exist, thus condemning trans kids or anyone who may potentially be trans to nonexistence and death. more than ever one must be open about trans possibilities

as always, one of the central foundational questions in politics: are children property?

to many, the answer is unequivocably yes.
direct throughline from this absurd need for parental control over their children and those same parents forcing their trans kids to go through a body horror of a puberty against their will.

too many parents see their children as merely extensions of themselves, living monuments to their own vanity
the most baffling part of school in the 2020s to me is that parents are actively communicating with their kids and teens all throughout the day. why is this needed at all, don’t parents get tired

conservative ideology boils down to wanting to kill kids, fuck kids, use kids as slaves, or some combination of all three, yet "bipartisanship" is something routinely taken as a virtue in politics. no actually you do not, under any circumstances, 'gotta hand it to them.'"

I remember when the Columbine massacre happened and very serious media and political figures deliberately hid the fact that the shooters were neo-Nazis and claimed that they did it because they were bullied (they weren’t) and that they wore black clothes.

Just thought I’d mention that

The whole "Marxism is a religion" thing is a straw man used to justify not learning about it. To the extent there is a choice about what kind of evidence and analysis you use to understand the world it's no different than any other explanatory mechanism. There is no view from nowhere

I really wish economy discourses would center the relative value of the same money at different economic strata. Not just in terms of percentage of wealth/income, but just how much more valuable a dollar is to a poor person than a rich person above and beyond that.

the thing that's so fucking infuriating about this is how much more that matters for the bottom 10%

$1200 can be life or death at that level of income

top 10%? $13K is nice, to be sure, but it's "maybe we'll take another vacation" nice not "oh good now we can afford to eat this month"
CBO analysis of the One Big Beautiful Bill and how it impacts different parts of the income spectrum:

—A net resource increase of $13,600, on average, for the top one-tenth of U.S. earners.

—A net resource decrease of $1,200, on average, for the bottom one-tenth of U.S. earners.
