I actually own the original Snake figma

New one has same body sculpt but more game accurate colours and MUCH less aggressive shading, and the head sculpt is totally new - again, more accurate and less gritty (and no moving eye gimmick) but also softer and less detailed. Generally an improvement.

All in all, a promising start to Star Detective! There's a genuine freshness to it I really like.

But I won't deny that I'm feeling more guarded than usual after You and Idol. It started promisingly as well, and there are four dozen more episodes to go, after all.

"Phantom thief villain tries to steal something elaborately, the gang detectives the solution then transforms into Cures and punches them" is a fun formula, hope they stick to it - gives a lot more structure and intent to the monsters of the week than most entries!

No Precure interregnum this year; straight from You and Idol last week to Star Detective today.

Fun first episode! VERY refreshing to see so much originality in ideas, setup, structure etc. after You and Idol's... everything

Good faces too!

I haven't opened tcg booster packs for years. This was fun!

Tragically, gambling is indeed enjoyable

3rd pack also had a RR lol, definitely doing better than I statistically should!
January 31, 2026 at 11:41 AM
Well, first pack had a RR so definitely not scammy leftovers! Nice!

The first (of probably too many...) delivery of dead tcg dead stock has arrived!

Will I get anything good or are these eBay packs (likely) leftovers from a box after the good pulls were found? We take what we can get with a dead tcg like this

Playing with these old trial decks, I still like it. I think it's got a fundamentally strong and clever design, extremely Bushiroad but actually done well, and that forces some interesting and skill-testing decisions around resource management. It's neat!

And so I have more cards on the way lol

Still, me and my friends were keen but just couldn't get any games locally

This was early 2016, and my hunt for a better game than Vanguard continued

That September I picked up a core set for Android: Netrunner and never looked back. Would I have, without L&L? I might've just picked up MtG...

ONE OF THEM HAD AN SP LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO
January 28, 2026 at 8:33 PM
weaker and mostly introduced new decks - making it easy to skip and leaving retailers with dead stock
5. Its customer was too specific - a Vanguard player in the market for a complex game, but not so disillusioned by BR that they don't jump to MtG. That was me and my mates and nobody else I knew
January 28, 2026 at 8:31 PM
in the west, so L&L was deeply offputting to many
3. It had an anime, but it was a *lore* seriesthat didn't feature the game. Not strictly a bad move, but did give up 'free' marketing. Also it was crap
4. What momentum it started with was immediately killed by the 2nd booster set, which was notably
January 28, 2026 at 8:28 PM
It's not hard to see why the game flopped - there's many causes
1. It's called *Luck & Logic*. Fucking TERRIBLE name lmao. That alone practically did it
2. It's *very* fanservicey. Boobs and butts and improbable clothing galore. The lighter presence of that in other BR games was already contentious
January 28, 2026 at 8:27 PM
The dead card game rabbit hole I fell into this time is Bushiroad's Luck & Logic. Launched in 2016, it lasted all of 1 year and 5 sets in English, and twice that in Japan

I found all these sealed trial decks for £2.50 each, and with the first 3 I bought back in the day that completes playsets!
