The documentary Power (1924) by Yance Ford -- streaming on Netflix -- is a must-see film on how abuse of power has been baked into policing in America from the beginning. youtu.be/BNfYuUKyXBU?...

Some days the events are just flabbergasting.
Missouri's AG Andrew Bailey is suing Starbucks, arguing that its workforce is too "female" and "non-white" and as a result Missouri consumers “pay higher prices and wait longer for goods and services" because its workforce is "less qualified"

This is a brazenly racist and sexist lawsuit.

Incompetence in Washington puts every American at risk, no matter how you voted. No one should be happy that the DOGE team - the same folks who randomly published classified U.S. security information online today - wants access to your bank account & Social Security numbers.

Conflict of interest? The State Department’s procurement forecast lists Tesla as the recipient of the largest expected contract, with Marco Rubio’s department planning to purchase $400 million worth of “Armored Tesla” vehicles.

Keep your messaging simple:

“Trump fired everyone in charge of airplane safety, and a week later planes started crashing into each other.”

That’s it. That’s the messaging. Don’t get bogged down disputing Trump’s false claims. Just blame him, in short and repeatable sentences.

SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

Words of truth from Octavia Butler.
Reading Parable of the Talents now by Octavia E Butler. Found this passage relevant to our times. Actually this entire book is relevant to our dystopian reality. #booksky #booktok

House Ethics Committee Republicans have landed on an excuse of not releasing the Gaetz report because it’s “unfinished,” and that would set bad precedent. Yes, THAT’S the precedent we must avoid— but nominating someone accused of child sex trafficking? That precedent is apparently fine with the GOP.

A lot of people are asking, “What can we do to protect our parks from being destroyed by the Trump admin?” Let’s be honest, the next four years are going to be tough. Just like the first term, we anticipate a relentless assault on the environment-maybe even worse, now that lessons were learned. 1/4

And yet Cicero ended up with his hands and tongue nailed to the rostrum of the Roman Senate after Marc Antony objected to Cicero's political views. This ushered in a set of events ending up in the Senate losing control and an emperor seizing power. Hmm. Sounds familiar.
Cicero was a very wise man

Mostly "news" these days adds to my continuing anxiety and nausea. One tidbit today makes me smile: the Onion satire site, w/ funding from Sandy Hook families, has bought Alex Jones' InfoWars wh/ was being sold out of bankruptcy to pay a judgement TO Sandy Hook families.
