Dave Pigeon fans! Bad Panda fans! This is it! This is the first book in my brand new series with #MinkyStapleton and I reckon you might like this one because I bloomin’ LOVE it. Happy reading, everyone 🦓🦝🐧🎉
UK cover of the brand new graphic novel for young readers, ‘The Terrible Trio’, illustrated by Minky Stapleton. There is a cheerful penguin, shocked zebra and a flummoxed lemur on the front cover. Minky’s illustration style is described as ‘The Bad Guys’ meets ‘The Penguins of Madagascar’.

I had to clean my oven to take this photo. It’ll make sense when you read the book so you should probably go and get the book. (I also hit my head on the grill twice whilst cleaning, so I’d appreciate the support.)🙏🏾

Dave Pigeon (Turkey Dinner!) is out NOW! 🦃

In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.

This is a brilliantly funny Santa story, PERFECT for Christmas. Alongside the hilarious action-packed Santa antics, there’s a wonderful grandparent-grandson relationship that explores grief and kindness. I know so many young readers who will LOVE sharing this one. Thank you @storymix.bsky.social 🎅🏾

And now there’s an actual Margarine in the world! Team Terrible Trio adopted her
Letter from Pōhatu Conservation Trust to show that Penguin was adopted and will be supported by the trust. Oh and her name is Margarine.

This. A book's success or failure is almost entirely down to the publisher. And yet it's the author who always takes the fall when a book fails.

Any sales track for an author should factor in what the publisher did/didn't do to market the book and what luck factors were involved eg awards/book of the month. Historical sales aren't useful info without context of other factors.

I spent the summer reporting this essay on why it seems harder than ever to sell a book right now—especially if it isn't a debut and comes with the dreaded "sales track." I'm grateful to the writers, agents, editors, publishers & experts who spoke to me for this piece: thewalrus.ca/the-publishi...

Not an expert in the field but I suspect teachers and schools already KNOW which students are struggling with reading. What they need are solutions. Such as funding for libraries with librarians.
